The Centerville Historical Museum has
14 decorated rooms with those themes

YMCA offers vacation
adventures
At both the West Barnstable and
Camp Lyndon Center in Sandwich,
kids ages 5-15 are welcome to join the
YMCA for spectacular field trips, out-
door fun and action packed days during

Help for teen parents
Cape Cod Child Development is
currently accepting applications for
enrollment in its Teen Parent program,
available to parents 19 and younger.

classes

NOAH Center needs
blankets
The NOAH Center emergency shelter
for adults needs blankets to give
away. New and used blankets may be
dropped off at 77 Winter St. in Hyannis.
Kindermusik for children
Preschool music classes for ages 18
months to 4 are ongoing at the South
Congregational Church in Centerville
for $9 a class. Kindergarten-age
children are invited to attend Kinder-
musik Young Child classes Tuesdays
from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the church.

CIGSYA activities
The Cape & Islands Gay & Straight
Youth Alliance has a dance room , cy-
ber center, library, TV room and game
room as well as several programs
and activities. There are monthly
dances, support meetings for all family
members , movie nights, potluck din-
ners, tutoring and mentoring. CIGSYA
is located at 56 Barnstable Road in
Hyannis and serves people 22 and
under. Circle for Youth meets from
3 to 5:30 p.m. on Mondays at the
club house. Activities include creative
writing, visual art, dance, theater and
more. A new conversational group
for people who have questions about
gender meets the second and fourth
Wednesday of the month at 8 p.m.
Yogilates in Osterville
Cape Cod Piiates, 1336 Main St. in
Osterville , offers a new yogilates class
Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. Admission is
$12 or free if you bring a friend.

It's pasta night every Thursday
between 5:30 and 8:30 at the Sons of
Italy, 4996 Falmouth Road in Cotuit.

Rec night for teens
The YMCA invites grades 5 and 6
to teen recreation night held the first
Saturday of the month from 7:15 to

Grades 7 and 8 are invited to teen
dances the second Saturday of the
month from 7:15 to 9:45 p.m. Admis-
sion is free to $5.
Around the Cape
Jam-making time at Green
Briar
Make your own jars of jam in one of
the upcoming jam-making workshops
at the historic Green Briar Jam Kitchen
in East Sandwich. All materials and ex-
pert instruction are provided. On Jan.
13 savor brandied cranberry conserve,
and on Feb. 10 enjoy apricot ginger
marmalade. These adult workshops
take place from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m.
Green Briar will also host two family
jam workshops , with one adult and
one child age 6 and above working
together, from 1 until 3 p.m. on the
same dates, making the same jam fla-
vors. The fee for workshops is $28 for
members and $38 for non-members.
Participants take home four to six jars
of jam. Fees include one adult and one
child in the family workshops. Paid
advance registration is required. For

Green Briar's winter hours
Green Briar Nature Center's hours
will now be Tues. through Sat. from 10
a.m. until 4 p.m. Green Briar is located

Vacation offerings at
Green Briar
Fun and adventure in the natural
world are offered during Dec. school
vacation at the Green Briar Nature
Center in East Sandwich. Today, Ani-
mal Tracks and Signs, and tomorrow,
Wild About Rabbits. Fees are $20 for
members of the Thornton W. Burgess
Society and $28 for non-members. For
children ages 6-8, 9-11:30 a.m., today,
Animal Tracks & Trail Signs. Fees are
$25 for members, $35 for non-mem-
bers. Tomorrow will feature Live Animal
Story Times, today will be Critter
Capers. These are free to members
and $1 per-person for non-members.
Also today, Owls of Cape Cod from
6-8 p.m., $14 for members, $18 for

Heritage shifts to winter
hours
Heritage Museums & Gardens is
open Friday, Saturday and Sunday
from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Mon-
day. The Spectacle of Lights will be
open during school vacation week,
every night from 5 to 9 p.m. Heritage
Museums & Gardens will be closed to
the public for January, February and
March except for program registration.
The museum will reopen on April 1.
Help the homeless
Purchase a grocery gift card for use
at Stop & Shop, Shaw's and Country
Garden for the face value of $10 to
$100 and use it for the full amount.
Five percent of the purchase price
will go to help prevent homelessness.

Yarmouth seniors get fit
The Yarmouth Senior Center, 528
Forest Road in South Yarmouth, is
hosting "Fun and Fit with Debbie An-
thony," an exercise class for all levels,
on Mondays and Wednesdays from
4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The $5 class includes
stretching, low-impact aerobics and ex-
ercise for those with arthritis. For more

evening line dancing class at 5:15 p.m.

This year's annual reunion tour for
members of the Fifth Army Veterans of

Programs at the Boys &
Girls Club
The Boys & Girls Club in Mashpee is
offering some new programs, includ-
ing indoor soccer on Wednesdays at
4 p.m. for kindergarten to grade 2,
Explorers on Tuesdays at 3, karate,
hip-hop dance and Smart Girls for
girls ages 7 to 12. There's also a high
school teen club, horseback riding,
science lab, a newspaper club and
technology club.
The club is open Monday through
Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. Teen nights
are held every weeknight from 6 to
8 p.m. Friday night the clubhouse is
open from 6 to 10 p.m. for teens. The
club is open every Saturday starting in
November as well as during vacation
weeks.

Fun programs at CCMNH
The Cape Cod Museum of Natu-
ral History will present four fun-filled
programs during the holiday season.
These programs are free to members
and free with museum admission to

p.m. Today learn How Therapy Dogs
Help Us. Gina Hayes of Just Dogs
will demonstrate with a therapy dog
the special capabilities and training
required to bring joy to those in insti-
tutional settings through these remark-
able animals. Tomorrow meet Admont
Clark , the author of the book The Boy
Who Saved A Cape Cod Town. Library
volunteers will read from the book and
after the reading audience members
can stay for Q & A and a book signing.

Healthy ocean, healthy us

Museum of Natural History will pres-
ent Kathleen Frith, Assistant Direc-
