Patterson Recorder The Barnstable Patriot December 26,2014 TOWN OF BARNSTABLE BOARD OF HEALTH NOTICE - PUBLIC HEARINGTO DISCUSS LIFEGUARD REQUIREMENTS AT PUBLIC AND SEMI-PUBLIC SWIMMING POOLS The Board of Health, Town of Barnstable, Massachusetts, in accordance with and under the authority granted by Section 31, of Chapter 1 1 1, of the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, will hold a public hearing to discuss requirements at public and semi-public swimming pools, specifically in regards to pool owners' and pool operators' responsibilities to hire and provide fully certified lifeguards and/or "qualified swimmers" in the Townof Barnstable. This public hearing will also be heldto discuss whether or not to extend the existing lifeguard Modification Deregulation Trial Period.' This trial period is currently in its fourth year and was due to expire on December 31, 2014. However, during the recent Board of Health meeting held on December 9,2014, the Board voted to extend the trial period for another two months. Pool operators who are currently enrolled in the Lifeguard Modification Deregulation- Fourth Year Trial Period (eligibility limited to facilities with 50 units or less) will be provided an extension to the existing trial period until February 28, 2015.
