NOTICE - PUBLIC HEARINGTO DISCUSS
LIFEGUARD REQUIREMENTS AT PUBLIC AND
SEMI-PUBLIC SWIMMING POOLS
The Board of Health, Town of Barnstable,
Massachusetts, in accordance with and under the
authority granted by Section 31, of Chapter 1

of the General Laws of the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts, will hold a public hearing to discuss
requirements at public and semi-public swimming
pools, specifically in regards to pool owners' and pool
operators' responsibilities to hire and provide fully
certified lifeguards and/or "qualified swimmers" in the
Townof Barnstable.
This public hearing will also be heldto discuss whether
or not to extend the existing lifeguard Modification
Deregulation Trial Period.' This trial period is currently
in its fourth year and was due to expire on December
31, 2014. However, during the recent Board of Health
meeting held on December 9,2014, the Board voted
to extend the trial period for another two months. Pool
operators who are currently enrolled in the Lifeguard
Modification Deregulation- Fourth Year Trial Period
(eligibility limited to facilities with 50 units or less) will
be provided an extension to the existing trial period
until February 28, 2015. After that date, the Board
may require lifeguards and/or "qualified swimmers" at
all public and semi-public swimming pools.
This public hearing will be held on Tuesday February
10, 2015 at 3:00 p.m.

SHANGHAI CHINESE RESTAURANT
The Barnstable Licensing Authority will hold a Show
Cause Hearing for Shanghai Chinese Restaurant,
Inc., d.b.a. Shanghai Chinese Restaurant, 11
Ridgewood Avenue, Hyannis, MA, Henry Yang, Mgr,
for violations of the Code of the Town of Barnstable,
Massachusetts: Section § 501-8. Environs of licensed
premises and Section § 501-12. Illegal activity on
the licensed premises. It is alleged that 11 counts
of illegal drug activity to took place on the licensed
establishment both in the bathrooms and out in the
public areas of the restaurant, between the dates of
September 6, 2014 and November 21, 2014.
The hearing will take place on January 12, 2015 at
9:30am at the Town Hall Buildi.ig, 367 Main Street,
Hyannis in the 2nd Floor Hearing Room to Show
Cause Hearing as to why the Annual All Alcohol
Common Victualler and Entertainment Licenses of
Shanghai Chinese Restaurant should not be modified,
suspended or revoked.
