Rec night for teens
The YMCA invites grades 5 and 6
to teen recreation night held the first
Saturday of the month from 7:15 to
9:45 p.m. at the Y, Route 132 in West
Barnstable. Admission is free to $3.
Grades 7 and 8 are invited to teen
dances the second Saturday of the
month from 7:15 to 9:45 p.m. Admis-
sion is free to $5.
Photos with Santa
Preserve a happy holiday moment
by having your child's photo taken
with the Big Man himself. Santa will
be available at the Cape Cod Mall in
his winter village in the Macy's Court
through Dec. 24. Kids can tell him their
wishes Mon. - Sat. from 10 a.m. until
8 p.m. and Sundays from 1 2- 6 p.m.
with short breaks to feed the reindeer.

Don't be alone on
Christmas
Our Lady of the Cape Parish in
Brewster invites those who will be
alone on Christmas Day to come and
share in their 25th annual Christmas
dinner. Individuals without transporta-
tion will be driven to and from the
dinner and meals can be delivered
to those unable to travel. The event
features non-alcoholic beverages, hors
d'oeuvres, turkey dinner with all the
trimmings, dessert and a gift for each
guest. Entertainers will lead friends in
song while sharing the joys of the sea-
son. Reservations are required before

Dennis library "Toys for
Tots" drop off
The Dennis Public Library is serving
as an official US Marine Corps Reserve
"Toys for Tots" drop off location. A
box is set up in the library to accept
donations of new, unwrapped toys for
children age infant to teen. The library
is located at 5 Hall Street in Dennisport
Village and is open Tues. through Sat.

child
Community Action Committee of the
Cape and Islands is launching Make a
Child Happy, designed to help clients
and their children this holiday sea-
son. Make a Child Happy will provide
donors with a child's wish list and
clothing size. Donors can purchase as
much or as little from the list as their

Jam-making classes at
Green Briar
There's nothing like receiving a jar
of homemade jam. Here's your chance
to learn how to make jam, by taking a

ing workshop is Christmas marmalade ,

Gingerbread houses a
feast for the eyes
A delightful display of holiday gin-
gerbread houses is on view at Main
Street Gourmet in Orleans through
Dec. 24. Visitors will have the op-
portunity to vote for their favorite
house. The house with the most votes
will receive a $100 gift basket from
Main Street Gourmet. Each house
was decorated by a local Orleans
business. The Main Street Gourmet,
located at 42 Main Street in Orleans,
is open daily with holiday hours of
Monday through Saturday from 10

Vacation offerings at
Green Briar
Fun and adventure in the natural
world are offered during Dec. school
vacation at the Green Briar Nature
Center in East Sandwich. The follow-
ing programs are available: for four and
five year-olds, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on
Dec. 23, Stories, Puppets and Fun, on
Dec. 29, Animal Tracks and Signs, and
Dec. 30 Wild About Rabbits. Fees are
$20 for members of the Thornton W.
Burgess Society and $28 for non-mem-
bers. For children ages 6-8, 9-11:30
a.m., Dec. 23 put on a puppet show for
the younger kids during Stories, Pup-
pets and Fun, Dec. 29, Animal Tracks &
Trail Signs. Fees are $25 for members,
$35 for non-members. For children 9-
12, 12:30-3:30 p.m., Dec. 27, Explorers
Vacation Creation Day, $30 for mem-
bers, $42 for non-members, and family
activities will be at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 26,
28, 30, Live Animal Story Times, and
Dec. 22 and 29 will be Critter Capers.
These are free to members and $1
per-person for non-members. On Dec.
27 from 9-11 a.m. families can attend
Birds in Winter, fees are $5 adults/$3
child for members, $7 adults/$4 child
for non-members ; on Dec. 28 at 10
a.m. and 1 p.m. will be candy mak-
ing. Fees are $28 for members, $38
for non-members. On Dec. 29, Owls of
Cape Cod from 6-8 p.m., $14 for mem-

Heritage shifts to winter
hours
Heritage Museums & Gardens is
open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Dec. 31. The
Spectacle of Lights will be open from
5 to 9 p.m. Friday and Sunday, and 5
to 10 p.m. on Saturday. The museum
will be closed on Christmas Eve, and
there will be no lights on Christmas Day
(when the museum will be closed). Dur-
ing Christmas school vacation week,
Spectacle will be open every night
from 5 to 9 p.m. Heritage Museums &
Gardens will be closed to the public for
January, February and March except for
program registration. The museum will
open again on April 1.

Purchase a grocery gift card for use
at Stop & Shop, Shaw's and Country
Garden for the face value of $10 to
$100 and use it for the full amount.
Five percent of the purchase price
will go to help prevent homelessness.

Yarmouth seniors get fit
The Yarmouth Senior Center, 528
Forest Road in South Yarmouth, is
hosting "Fun and Fit with Debbie An-
thony," an exercise class for all levels,
on Mondays and Wednesdays from
4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The $5 class includes
stretching, low-impact aerobics and ex-
ercise for those with arthritis. For more

Heritage hits the road
Heritage Museums & Gardens in
Sandwich will lead a bus tour to
Cambridge's historic Harvard Square
followed by a celebration of the winter
solstice at the 36th annual Chris tmas
Revels today. The bus will leave at 3
p.m. and return at 11 p.m. The first
stop is the luxurious Charles Hotel,
then it's on to the Sanders Theater
for a new German/Swiss production
of Revels that explores the roots of
modern Christmas and will include an
ensemble cast of more than 80 per-
formers. Tickets (including round trip
transportation, driver gratuity, perfor-
mance, light refreshments) are $85 for
member adults, $95 for non-members;

Girls Club
The Boys & Girls Club in Mashpee is
offering some new programs, includ-
ing indoor soccer on Wednesdays at
4 p.m. for kindergarten to grade 2,

girls ages 7 to 12. There's also a high
school teen club, horseback riding,
