FEDERATED CHURCH
The custom ot holding the White
Gifts Service In conjunction -with
the Morning Services on a Sunday
prior to Christmas, which was In-
augurated last year, will be follow-
ed on this Sunday at 9:30 and 11.
The Junior Dept. and Junior High
Dept. will meet In Baldwin Hall at
9:20 and attend the 9:30 servico
in a body. The pre-school children
will meet as usual and enter' the
church for the Service of White
Gifts In the latter part ot "the
church service. The Junior Choir
will sing. Dr. Carl Fearing Schultz,
Minister, will bring an appropri-
ate message Tbr The Christmas
Season.
At 11, the Senior High Dept. will
attend church. The Pre-school and
Primary Dept. will meet In their
rooms as usual and at 11:45 will
process to the church for the
Service ot White Gifts, with songs
by the Departments and a White
Gifts Tableaux by members of the
Primary Department under the di-
rection of Mrs. Kenneth Bearse,
and the faculty .of tho two Depart-
ments. At both 9:30 and 11-.00
members attending will bring gifts
of toys, games, books, clothing,
|etc., wrapped in white and marked
( for boy or girt and approximate
age.
| Members of the Federated
Church congregations are invited
to bring Swan Soap wrappers Sun-
day as the Trl-Hl Is collecting
them in accordance with the ar-
rangement by which the Company
sends soap overseas for wrappers
received. Officers of the Tri-HI
Club elected at a recent meeting;
include Miss Alice Brown , presi-
dent; Miss Martha Schultz , vice-
president; Miss Prudence Thachor,
secretary, and Miss Carol Cole-
man, treasurer.
Sunday at 12:10 at the Class
Period, members will assist in the 1
preparation of the Sunshine Boxes '
to be distributed on the Cape at '
ChriBtmas by the Salvation Army.!

School composed of 26 pupils of the
3rd, 4th and $th grades, a project
of Miss Edna Lahteine, the teacher
who trained them, entertained with

supervisor, was the accompanist.
A ChriBtmas message was given
by the Rev. E. Gage Hotaling. The
boyB appeared in white BhlrtB, blue
ties and dark trousers.

tained TueBday evening by the

Olive Bogart of Brookllne, reader,
dancer and mime, a theatre in her-
self , and William PeterBon of Bos-
ton, concert pianist, who gave solos
land was the accompanist. Refresh-
ments were served.
The monthly business meeting
held In the afternoon included an-
nouncement of a gift of $200 from
the Junior Club and a report of
I $40.10 cleared on card parties by
I the Finance Committee. Mrs. M.
Morrell Berg of Hyannis and Mrs.
William M. Mulheron of Center-
I vllle were reported as new mem-
I bers. Notice was given of a speclnl
meeting of the Art Department for
Jan. 3rd when coins and currency
will be discussed. Mrs. E. Joslln
I Whitney, president, reported that
members of the club are assisting
in the Christmas BaBket project
of the Salvation Army for Otis Air
Base, Capo Cod Hospital and other
groups. She also announced Hint
she would name a memherslilp
committee which is a new com-
mittee.
Soap wrappers must he sent to
Mrs. Chester A. Baker in time to
be received in Boston by Dec. 81.
Mrs. William S. Murray, Jr., played
for singing of carols. Stage decora-
tions were a lighted tree and

REV. WILLIS E. PLAXTON
Funeral sorvices were conducted
nt the Methodist Church In South
Yarmouth December 8 for llev.
Willis E. Plaxton, who died at his
home here on Miilu Street Decem-
ber 5, at 76 years of age.
Mr. Plaxton bad told pastorates
In Osterville, Marstons Mills ,
North Harwich , Woods Hole, Fair-
haven , New Bedford , South Yar-
mouth, and other places In New
England. He was a native ot Can- '
ada, but came to the United Stntes |
to study at the age of 19, Ho WUH .
a graduate of Wesley College In
North Dakota, and Boston Univer-
sity School of Theology. While in
college, he was on the football
team and also played soccer. Re-
cently he has specialized in raising
dahlias. He had all his life been In-
terested in horses.
Surviving him are his widow ,
Mrs. Hannah C. (Crowell) Plaxton;
a sister , Mrs. Lillian Bell , Toronto;
two brothers , Frank Plaxton of
Toronto and Clarence Plaxton of
LoculB Hill , Canada , and several
nieceB and nephews.

Saturday, December 17 comes
the Children's Party, starting at
3:30 P.M., when children of veter-
ans and others are invited to the
Legion Home in HyanniB. Santa
Claus will be there to distribute
gifts and candy.
On Tuesday, the 20th, members
of the Legion and Auxiliary and
their friends will gather at Legion
Home in the evening to enjoy the
fine Christmas celebration pre-
pared for them. Santa will be on

FUND RAISING
Several campaigns are being
waged in Barnstable High School
to raise funds. The Senior Class is
selling pins and Christmas cards.
The Junior Class Is Belling address
labels and ball point pens. The
Freshman Class sponsored a
Christmas dance, under tho super-
vision of Mr. Levlnson, last Fri-
day, Dec. 9th, in the Barnstable
,High School cafeteria. Chairman of
the dance committee was Kalllope
J Garoufes. The Tip Top Band
I played. To help in the Red Cross
{ drive, the students of Barnstable
High are requested to contribute
money and discarded clothing.

roe and Arthur Pearson, Past Mas-
ters of Howard Lodge, attended a
Past Masters banquet at the Wind-
swept in Dennis. Mr. Pearson, as
the present Master, will attend
the Grand Lodge meeting In Bos-

Mrs. Mae Kenlston, Home Eco-
nomists at Yarmouth High Sohool,
will replace Miss Lorraine DeLalt-
tre as the judge In the Bake a
Cake Contest sponsored by Can-
nons Inc. at West Yarmouth, on
Thursday.
