Mrs. Alma Perry, lecturer , was
chairman of the party which In-
cluded greetings by Mrs. Chase,
carols with Mrs. Dorothy Marcel-
llne as accompanist, readings by
Mrs. Annie Johnson , and exchange
of gifts. George Marcelllne won the
game prize. The lecturer 's march
was won by Mrs. Mae Selffe, and
Mrs. Lucy Coleman won a cake.

men's committee who served re-
freshments. Grangers from Yap
mouth and Harwich were present.
Mrs. Perry will Berve as delegate
to a lecturers' conference in Wor
cester Friday.

Children of the Greek commun-
ity will be given a Christmas party
by the Phlioptochos Society at 3:30
p.m. Sunday in the Greek Church
Hall. They will present Christmas
program including a play, directed
by the paster the Rev. Speros Mou-
rikos. There will be a tree and
gifts, and refreshments. Mrs. Nich-
olas Sethares is chairman.
POCAHONTAS
Mrs. Gertrude Du'chesney la
chairman of a Christmas party for
Yanno-Councll Monday in Red
Men's Hall after a business meet-
ing at 8 o'clock. Gifts will be ex-
changed at a tree. The Busy Bee
Sewing Circle will meet at 2.
JEWISH CELEBRATION
A special "Chanukah" service
will be held at Cape Cod Syna-
gogue tomorrow at 8 o'clock. This
Feast of Lights, Feast ot Rededl-
cation, will open at sundown today
and close at the same time De-
cember 23rd. This festival is
especially observed in the homes
where families gather to sing fes-
tive songs and light candles. A
candle will be lighted each night
until there are eight. It Is a sea-
son for thanksgiving and rededlca-
tlon to the faith , and Is in com-
memoration of the rededlcation of
the temple by the Macabees when
Antiochus, ruler of Syria, was in-
tent upon up-rooting Judaism and
installing paganism in Palestine.
The great preachment of the
prophet Zecharlah will be read on
the Sabbath during the festival.
REBEKAHS
After an 8 p.m. business meet-
ing Tuesday in Odd Fellows Hall
members of Willing Hand Lodge
will exchange gifts not to cost over
50 cents, at a Christmas tree party
in charge of Mrs. Hilda Wannie,
Mrs. Ethel Lahteine and Mrs.
Alice Coggeshall. Refreshments
will be served by Mesdames Mag-
dalene L. Chase, Laura Fruean,
Dorothy Randall and Eva Royce.
ST. FRANCIS GUILD
St. Francis Xavier Guild planned

future meetings In the Community
Room of Panama Club first Thurs-
days. Other plans were tor a
luncheon card party Jan. 17 in
Hyannis Inn and a telephone card
party Feb. 2. Tentative"plans by
the finance committee were made
for a pyramid card party in Janu-
ary, a food Bale In March and a
rummage sale in April. Mrs. Elaine
Jellerson was welcomed to mem-
bership. Net proceeds of about $250
was realized on the Christmas sale,
tea and card party, and donations
included $5 to the Neediest Fami-
lies Fund of Cape Cod Standard-
Times, $10 for Christmas altar
flowers for St. Francis Xavier
Church, and $10 to the Medical
Center of Boston Children's Hos-
pital. Mrs. Walter Kennedy won a
doll, Mrs, Orrln Eaton, a pair of
bedspreads, and Mrs. Joseph Morey
won the mystery package.
A Christmas program after the
meeting Included the singing of
carols and hymns by 12 girls of
the junior choir of the church,
directed by the Sisters of the
Missionary Cenacle. Gifts were ex-
Changed by the 56 members and
guests at a tree. Hall decorations
ot red and green streamers, holly,
flr and pine cones were arranged
by Mrs. Arnold H, Rogean and
Mrs. Adolphe A. Richards. Re-

Donations of $5 were made to the
Neediest Families Fund of the
Cape Cod Standard-Times, to the
Children 's Medical Center and to
( the V. F. W. National Home for
Veterans at Eaton Rapids, Neb.
Those who will assist with the
joint New Year's party with the
post are Mrs. William Wahtola ,
Mrs. Disbee and Mrs. Louis J. Pa-
nesis. Gifts of not more than 50c
cost will be exchanged. The meet-
ing of December 27th was can-
celed.
Obligation ceremonies were con-
ducted by Mrs, Freda Jones of

This club voted money for Christ-
mas gifts for a bedridden elderly
person and $5 to the Neediest Fam-
ilies Fund of the Cape Cod Stan-
dard-Times at a meeting Tuesday
evening. The public whist party
planned for January 20th at the
home of Mrs. Catherine Johnson
. was discussed. They will meet
' again January 3rd.
CATHOLIC CHILDREN'S PARTY
Following his annual custom the

St. Francis Xavier parish, will give

CLUB ,
Members voted at Tuesday's
meeting to sponsor another annual
show to benefit - the Federated
Church and elected officers: for
1949. The slate included president,'
L. • Allen Jones; secretary,, Mrs.
Fred Oehme, and treasurer, Arthur
J. Best, Jr. Henry White is the
retiring president. Mrs. George
Frost was appointed chairman of
the sunshine committee which in-
cludes Mrs. William H. Delano and
Mrs. Arvld Anderson.
Gifts were exchanged at a Christ-
mas tree and refreshments served.
New members welcomed were Mr.
and Mrs. Herbert Wheeler and Mr.
and Mrs. A, G. Harpin.

The Christmas Party referred to
is for the boys and girls of the
Church School. A pageant, "Christ-
mas Eve at Home," will be pre-
sented under the direction of Miss
Evelyn A. Lahteine. Carols will
be sung, and Santa Claus will be
present to distribute the gifts.
At the Workers' Conference
Monday evening, which is the
regular monthly" meeting, a short
business session will be followed
by an address by Dr. Arthur J.
Canning on "Comparative Re-
ligions." Dr, Canning has been
making a special study of the fea-
tures of the Catholic, Protestant
and Jewish religions and will base
his talk on the book, "One God" by
Mary Fitch.
