Artful Thursdays at
Dennis museum
Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis
is offering admission by donation all
day every Thursday, from 10 a.m. to
8 p.m., and talks at 11 a.m., tours at
2 p.m. and special events on se-
lected Thursday evenings. The talks
will be given by exhibiting curators
and artists and the tours by museum
docents.
Meet your friends , spend time at
the museum and then take in lunch
or dinner at local restaurants offering
Artful Thursdays 10 percent dis-
counts: The Mercantile for lunch and
Center Stage Cafe for dinner.
There are also special Artful Thurs-
day evening events planned, includ-
ing First Thursday's One Night Stand,
focusing on one emerging artist with
music , wine and refreshments from
5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the first Thurs-
day of the month.
Mashpee art programs
Mary Richmond holds art classes
for ages 12 through 18 at her
Mashpee Commons studio at 27
Fountain St. Classes include clay,
pen and ink, watercolor on location,
drawing and more. Children's art
classes held in the afternoon. Adult

Genealogists to share
stories
The Cape Cod Genealogical
Society will hold its monthly meeting
at 10 a.m. Dec. 13 at the Brewster
Ladies' Library. 1322 Route 6A in
Brewster. Society members will show
artifacts that illustrate family ancestry
and the time during which their an-
cestors lived. The public is welcome.
American Assn. of
University Women
The monthly meeting of the Cape
Cod branch of the American Associa-
tion of University Women will be held
Dec. 12 at the New Seabury Country
Club in Mashpee. There will be a so-
cial hour at 11:30 a.m. followed by a
luncheon at noon at a cost of $29.95
per person. Members of the branch
chosen as Educational Foundation
honorees will be presented and gift
baskets contributed by a member of
the Board will be raffled. Member-
ship is open to women who hold an
associate's or bachelor's degree. For

BU Alumni Club luncheon
The Boston University Alumni Club
of Cape Cod and the Islands invites
all alumni and their guests to a lun-
cheon tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. at the
Coonamessett Inn, 311 Gifford St. in

New England scrod or roast turkey
with stuffing. The cost per person is

Camera club at art
association
The Cape Cod Art Association cam-
era club meets at 7 p.m. every other

Group for Barnstable
youths
The Barnstable Youth Commission
and its Youth Empowered Through
Learning Leadership advisory group

High School. Ages 13 through 19 are
invited to discuss issues affecting the
young people of Barnstable.
German-American Club
Members of the German-American
Club generally meet the second Sat-
urday of the month at the Fraternal

The Barnstable Newcomers Club
will hold no meetings in December
and January. The rest of the year,
meetings held the third Wednes-

clude a speaker and a social gather-
ing. Annual membership is $10.
Contradances in Cotuit
A Contradance is held the second
Saturday of every month at Freedom
Hall, 976 Main St. in Cotuit, with live
music by John Alden & Friends. Be-

soft-soled shoes are recommended.

West Barnstable
Members of the Barnstable Associa-
tion for Recreational Shellfishing meet

A traditional New England contra
dance will be held the fifth Saturday

4-H activities

Round Table

Senior Center film
program
Free films are shown at the

Dec. 11's movie is the John Hughes
remake of the Christmas classic
Miracle on 34th
Street , and next
Friday's film is the stirring It's a Won-
derful Life. The series winds up 2006
with Dr. Seuss 's How the Grinch Stole
Christmas on Dec. 18.
Weekly films and food
The Island Merchant, 10 Ocean St.
in Hyannis, has screenings of popular
films every Tuesday evening. Food
and drink samples related to the film
are served on the side at 7 p.m. The
screenings are at 7:30 p.m. Admis-
sion for the package is $15 or you
can order off the menu.
MUSIC:
A realllllly big Christmas
show
On Dec. 17, the annual Cape Cod
Christmas Cavalcade returns to the
Old Jailhouse Tavern in Orleans for
a 7 p.m. show with a suggested
admission of $15. No one will
be turned away, but all proceeds
will benefit the NOAH Center in
Hyannis. The show will feature The
Chandler Travis Philharmonic, The
Incredible Casuals, Kami Lyle & Joey
Spampinato, The Shook Fambly
Singers, Fred Fried, Bruce Maclean
& Anna Hirst, The Greenheads, The
Rip-lt-Ups, The Ticks, Stephen
Russell, Tad Price & Julie Wanamaker

Messiah sing!
The New Cape Singers, under the
direction of Marjorie Bennett Mor-
ley, will be joining forces with the
Yarmouthport Congregational Church
Choir, under the direction of Melodi
Southworth, to present the Christmas
portion of Handel's Messiah. The per-
formance will be held Dec. 15 at 8 p.m
at the Yarmouthport Congregational
Church, 329 Rt. 6A in Yarmouthport.
Soloists include Joan Kirchner, Chris
Roberts, Tom Crumb. Thorn Dutton,
Sue Bauer and Kristin Whyte. Accom-
paniment will be provided by James
Armstrong on organ and Donald Enos
on piano, with Mike Czitrom on cello.

Magical Madrigals
The Midcape Madrigal Singers,
under the direction of Vivien Cook, will
be presenting their annual Christmas
concert on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the
Dennis Union Church on Route 6A in
Dennis. The concert will feature music
from the Medieval and Renaissance
periods with readings by television
and Broadway actress Natalie Ross
Miller, as well as performances by the
Cape Early Wyndes and Thorn Dutton
on historical harp. A free will offer-
ing will be taken at the door with all
proceeds to benefit a local charity. For

Take in Sounds of the
Season
The Academy Playhouse in Orleans
presents Sounds of the Seasons featur-
ing Peter Earle, Marha Whately, Chris

Jingle Jam
PIXY 103 presents Jingle Jam from
