:MUSIC Holiday Concert at BHS The Barnstable High School Holiday Concert will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, with a variety of traditional and contemporary holiday music , including the debut of the new Gospel Choir. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for students and senior. Advent organ recital T. Joseph Marchio plays the new Mander organ at West Parish of Barnstable on Route 149 Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in a program of Christmas and Advent music. Guest artists include soprano Sarah Elizabeth Bach, bagpiper Sarah Ford Mar- chio, and the West Parish Ringers handbell chorus. A $10 donation is suggested. Jazz in Barnstable Village The Barnstable Restaurant and Tavern offers Sunday jazz brunch from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. across from the county courthouse on Route 6A in Barnstable village. Cape Codder Resort & Spa The Grand Cru Wine Bar at The Cape Codder Resort & Spa, Route 132 in Hyannis, hosts jazz nights weekly. Call 508-771-3000 for res- ervations. Coming up Dec. 1 is Bart Weisman , with Ann Austin Dec. 2. Swing to the action at the Island Merchant Saturdays at The Island Merchant, 10 Ocean St. in Hyannis, feature either a DJ or an '80s theme; call for schedule. Around the Cape Art of the icon on display Icons painted by Sister Faith Ric- cio will be on display as part of the Advent Festival at the Community of Jesus, Rock Harbor, Orleans, Dec. 1, 2 and 3 in the Caritas Gallery (508- 240-2400). Giclee prints of the icons will be for sale. Found art in Dennis Painter Michael Pearson and Found Object Sculptor Robert Parker will be the featured artists at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis on Thursday, Dec. 7. Part of the museum's Thursday "One Night Stand" series, the event will include music, wine and refreshments along with a chance to explore the work of these two Cape artists. Artful Thursdays at Dennis museum Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis is offering admission by donation all day every Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and offering talks at 11 a.m., tours at 2 p.m. and special events on selected Thursday evenings. The talks will be given by exhibiting curators and artists and the tours by museum docents. Meet your friends, spend time at the museum and then take in lunch or dinner at local restaurants offering Artful Thursdays 10 percent dis- counts: The Mercantile for lunch and Center Stage Cafe for dinner. Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod Mid-Cape chapter meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Barnstable Unitarian Church on Route 6A. Admission is $6 for adults and free for children. y ZFILMS: Films at the college The free fall foreign film series continues at Cape Cod Community College in West Barnstable. Show time is at 3:30 p.m. in Lecture Hall A in the science building. Dec. 5 the film is My Mother 's Castle (the companion to My Father 's Glory), in which a boy learns to love and understand his mother's true nature. French with English subtitles. Dec. 12 it's Travellers and Magicians , about a man who dreams of leav- ing his isolated mountain village to emigrate to America. In Dzongkha with English subtitles. Senior Center film program Free films are shown at the Barnstable Senior Center, Route 28 in Hyannis, Fridays and Mondays at 1 p.m.; bring a lunch to nibble on. Weekly films and food The Island Merchant, 10 Ocean St. in Hyannis, has screenings of popular films every Tuesday evening. Food and drink samples related to the film are served on the side at 7 p.m. The screenings are at 7:30 p.m. Admission for the pack- age is $15 or you can order off the menu.
