BAPTIST CHURCH
Sunday sermon topic Is "The
One Message of the Bible the Devil
Hates More Than Any Other."
At the Senior Youth Fellowship
meeting at 6 p.m., Sally and Bar-
bara Coleman will be the directors,
wlth Miss Aileen McDougal as as-
sistant.
Evening sermon topic is "Memo-
rials That Will Never Fade, Crum-
ble, or Decay."
Monday, the Junior Youth Fellow-
ship will mee at 3:IB, and on Fri-
day at 7:30 p.m. the Senior Choir
rehearsal will take place.
YOUTH FELLOWSHIP
A change in the Youth Fellow-
ship of the Baptist Church Is made
necessary because of the splendid
weekend program for the young
people of the village at the Com-
munity Center.
Meetings are to be held on Mon-
days at 3:15 p.m.
GARDEN CLUB
The Osterville Garden Club will
meet Monday at 2 p.m. In the Com-
munity Center, with MrB, Ida Gtf-
ford , chairman. Speaker will be
Mrs. Ernest Fritz.
CHILDREN'S PARTY
All children of veterans In this
village are invited to attend the
Christmas Party to be held for
them from 2 to 4 p.m. December 17
in Legion Hall, Hyannls, by the
Auxiliary of Barnstable Post 206,
American Legion.
Parents will please call for the
Osterville children, Osterville 4873
(Mrs. Harold Gifford), giving the
names and ages of the children up
to 14 years.
4-H MEETING
All girls from the ages ot nine
years, six months, through 14, who
are interested in 4-H Club work,
have been Invited to attend a meet-
ing at 3:16 p.m. today (Thursday)
at the Osterville School. Mothers
of the girls have also been Invited.
Mrs. Larkin Swift will be direc-
tor, assisted by Mmes. Shirley
Crosby, Elbert Little and James
Hansberry.
PANTRY PARTY
A pantry party was given Mrs.
Mabel Huckabee at her new home
recently. Guests included Mrs.
Richard Robbins, MrB. Shirley
Evans, Mrs. Malcolm Crosby, Mrs.

VENI80N DINNER
A meeting was called by the
Men's Fellowship of the Baptist
Church to plan a venison dinner ,
Monday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 , by its
president, Henry Whiteley.
The venison, donated by the pas-
tor, Rev. Hazen C. MacDonald , who
was fortunate in bringing back a
deer from his recent hunting trip
in the woods of Maine. The dinner
is for members and their friends,
DIXON-WALSH WEDDING
Before an altar decorated with
white chrysanthemums, Miss Mar-
garet Mary Walsh, daughter ot Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph F. Walsh of this
village, was wed to John Cody
Dixon in a double-ring ceremony
performed Saturday morning, No-
vember 26, by the Rev. John P.
Driscoll in Our Lady of Assumption
Church, with a nuptial mass follow-
ing.
Matron of honor for her sister-
In-law was Mrs. Joseph F. WalBh.
Mr. Walsh was best man for his
Bister's bridegroom and her two
brothers, Robert T. and George
Walsh, were ushers.
Mrs. Edward J. Bennett, a Bister
of the bride, was soloist. She sang
"Ave Maria," accompanied at the
organ by Mrs. Shirley Crosby.
Immediately following the church
ceremony, a reception was held at
Veterans' Club. The newlyweds left
on a trip to New York. On their re-
turn they will make their home in
Osterville.
The bride attended Barnstable
High School, from which her hus-
band was graduated. He served
three years with the U. S. Marines
and Is at present employed at the
j Osterville Service Station.
TRI-F CLUB
Guest night was observed re-
cently at a meeting of the Trl-F
Club. A plustic s demonstrator, Ned
Watson of Monument Beach, gave
a demonstration of his wares. Mrs.
Barbara Williams and Mrs. Eunice
Williams were hostesses. The next
meeting will be December G,

Cartons are to be placed in the
stores of Osterville for the con-
venience of the people to plnce
their donations for the Cnpe Cod
Hospital drive.

PREACHING CRUSADE
Rev. Hazen C. MacDonald has re-
turned after a Christian Crusade
for Christ meeting in Dover Baptist
Church , Dover, N. H. The services
were well attended with Christian
leaders from Maine , Vermont , Mas-
sachusetts and New Hampshire , as
well as members of the faculty of
the University of New Hampshire ,
who were loyal in their support
and attendance. Musical talent was
enjoyed from all towns, also the
Ruggles Street Baptist Church of
Boston, with an outstanding male
quartet, also a male quartet from
the Baptist Church of Portland ,
Me. Students from Gordon Divinity
School provided music for the clos-
ing day.

OSTERVILLE CENTER
The Barnstable Playground and
Recreation Commission officially
opened the Osterville Community
Center, holding open house last
Tuesday evening. Mel Von's Or-
chestra was present through the
courtesy of the Music Performance
Trust Fund of the Phonograph In-
dustry,
The Center has been repaired and
painted throughout, with facilities
for every one in the village. The
school children's recreation pro-
gram will be Fridays and Saturdays
only and will Include basketball ,
volley-ball, dancing, ping-pong and
quoits games.
The Girl Scouts will meet every
Tuesday afternoon and the Boy
Scouts every Tuesday night, other
items on the program were out-
lined.
About 250 attended the opening,
and a number took part.
Sidney V. Wright, director of
the Commission 's activities , was
master of ceremonies, and the
speakers were Guy Harris , chair-
man of the Commission; Thomns
Milne , Commission member; Victor
AdaniB, Selectman; John Lebel,
contractor who rebuilt tbp Center,
and Richard Gallagher , th0 archi-
tect, Lenwood I. Pond was Intro-
duced as the superintendent.
Dick Anderson gavo instruction
In all square dances. Round dancing
was also enjoyed.
A Boy Scout Tenderfoot cere-
mony was held , conducted by Her-
bert Coombs, Scoutmaster,
The meeting room had been dec-
orated and the curtains bung by
the Garden Club,
A boys ' and girls' club was or-
ganized tinder the supervision of
Lenwood Pond and will function as
a self-governing body. The follow-
ing officers wore elected . Paul Le-
bel, presiden t; Gregory Tallnian,
flee president , and Dorothy While-
ley, secretary nnd treasurer . There
ivill also be a jury consist ing of the

50 YEARS OF SERVICE
Simplex Wire and Cable Com-
pany of Cambridge recently ex-
pressed their appreciation to Ar-
thur F. Lewis for a half century of
able and faithful service,

telegrams and letters, appropriate

Lewis' friends expressed their ap-
preciation of his character and
what it bus meant to the company
and to themselves,
Mr. Everett Morse made a ltitle
presentation speech to go along
with the company 's gift of a beau-
tiful gold watch and chain , on which
was the inscription "To Arthur F.
Lewis for 50 years of able and
faithful service."
After this the management group
handed Mr. Lewis five $10 bank-
notes with a gift card rending "Our
congratulations as you review In
thought , tho accomplishments of
50 years and all the joy they
brought, "
Luter the representatives of the
Quarter Century club brought a
gorgeous bouquet of chrysanthe-
mums and a beautifully personal-
ized billfold which held a $50 bill
and a framed certificate of life
membership In the club.
Still later , the employees in the
General Office, the Factory Office
and the Printing Department pre-
sented Mr. Lewis with n chair up-
holstere d in groon leather .

'10 years or more gave him a quiet
dinner parly at Hotel Commander ,
at which Mrs . Lewis and his daugh-
ter , Miss Mildred Lewis, were hon-
ored guests .
Mr. Arthur F. Lewis was u for-

and Mrs. Foster Lewis of this vil-
lage. Congratulations from Oster-
