At this inclement season , a light is needed on that Stittion , more than at any time during the year.— \otwithstand ing, she is now removed for the pur- pose of re-calking ; that may be needed , probably it is althoug h she leaked as much four months ago as she does at the present time. Wh y was she not then taken in , when she could have been better spared from her situation ? Probabl y because it would be more comfortable for all concerned , to be snu»l y moored in a good safe lntrbor ,durin g the severe gales usual at this season , as was done last winter. Bad iu'l"nv-nt lo say the least. As No. 1 is the first, law of nature perhaps we should not find fault , but it clearly appears that the Superintendent of Lights , for this District , is much to blame , at. least that is the genera l opinion here. The Nkw Yohk Herald and other papers have referred to her re- moval , and it is to be hoped that for the safety of Mni'iners , who are. under the necessity of passing that dangerous Station , that the floating li ght (which should now be on Pollock Rip.) may soon be under as ;;ood management as those placed on other im- portant reed on our coast. She suffered long and m uch , and yet patientl y. But few have ever been call- ed to pass throug h a greater amount of affliction ; and , certainl y, we never beheld one who bore it all more meekl y and resi gnedl y. Her faith most wonderfull y sustained her , a nd seemed to grow brighter as her suf- feri ng became more intense. She has three orphan child ren, who , though the y fe el their loss, ar e comfort- ed in view of their dea r, patient and suffering mother 's gain. She was tenderl y beloved by a large circle of relatives , all of whom feel to rejoice that her sorrows and troubles are now at an end. That she has mount- ed up from this frail bod y of death , as th e freed eajile darts upward from his cage into the pure air and the clea r sunli ght «f the skies. g. b. Orleans , Nov. 14. Also, on the 9th iost., with dysenterry, Miss Han- nah Taylor, 19 years and 7 months. The following lines were very ki ndl y written by one who knew heT well, loved and admired her mild and guileless charac- ter , and wished to do something to miti gate the sorrows of th e mourning friends , and to express the affection- ate sentiments of her own sorrowing heart: Ja ws on the death of a fri end. Dea th steals into a group of friends And takes the loved in his relentless grasp ; He st ays not for the tear of anguish—the heaving sigh The breaking hear t. On this fair day, (the one On which the Savior rose and burst the confines Of the tomb ,) one of earth' s fairest flowers is lowl y laid : Touched by bis icy fi nger. The arrow Has been aimed hy an unerring hand. Tha t lovel y form , ado rned with every grace, Has fallen a prey, to this dread monster. All that loved ones could do, could not arrest The progress of disease , and death. Hers was the patience of the lamb That wai ts the fatal blow—and her 's the meekness Of the one th at, sat at Jesus' feet, and learned of Him Fa rewell—dear friends ! No more amid the scenes Of ea rth, shall th at dea r chosen one—whom thou Hast left behind to mourn th y loss—ere greet thee. But may his eye. radiant with Faith and Hope , Turn upward , to that land where all , with robes Washed white in Jesus' blood , bask in His glorious presence.
