A traditional New England contra

Summer Stock Story
A fund-raising sneak preview of
Summer Stock Story, a documentary
about the early years of the Orleans
Arena Theatre, will take place at the
Academy of Performing Arts, 120 Main
St., Orleans, at 5 p.m. on Saturday,
Nov. 18. Filmmaker Liz Argo is trying to
raise money to complete the documen-
tary, which has been funded by grants
from the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod

Films at the college
The free fall foreign film series is
under way at Cape Cod Community
College in West Barnstable. Show time
is at 3:30 p.m. in Lecture Hall A in
the science building. On Nov. 21, The
Testament of Senhor Napumoceno is
a meditation on life and the choices
people make, set in Cape Verde. In
Portuguese with English subtitles. On
Nov. 28, My Father's Glory brings us
the story of an 11-year-old boy's en-
chanting summer in the French coun-
tryside with his family, which becomes
a turning point in his life and cements
his relationship with his father. French
with English subtitles.
Film tells Chatham
Marconi story
Members of the Chatham Marconi
Maritime Center will present the doc-
umentary film Chatham Radio: WCC
The Untold Story, narrated by Walter
Cronkite, on Nov. 17 from 7 to 8
p.m. at Cape Cod Maritime Museum
at 135 South Street, Hyannis. Lewis
Masson, a former employee at WCC,
will be on hand to answer questions.
The film is free, though donations are
always welcome.
This award-winning documentary
details the life of Guglielmo Marconi
and his ground-breaking discoveries,
and brings to light the rich history of
the Chatham Marconi-RCA Marine-
wireless receiving station, built by
Marconi in 1914.
Senior Center film
program
Free films are shown at the
Barnstable Senior Center, Route 28 in
Hyannis, Fridays and Mondays at 1
p.m.; bring a lunch to nibble on.
Weekly films and food
The Island Merchant, 10 Ocean St.
in Hyannis, has screenings of popular
films every Tuesday evening. Food
and drink samples related to the film
are served on the side at 7 p.m. The
screenings are at 7:30 p.m. Admis-
sion for the package is $15 or you

Song of songs
Eventide Arts presents Jon Ar-
terton, director of the Outer Cape
Chorale, in a special concert, "My
Life is Song," at 7:30 p.m. Friday,
Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 18. The
concert will be at the Gertrude Law-
rence Stage, Dennis Union Church,
Route 6A, Dennis Village. Tickets are

Chatham Chorale
performs at Mattacheese
The Chatham Chorale will perform
Handel's "Israel in Egypt," a dramatic
rendition of the Old Testament story

As the rooster crows
The Rooster Crows Christmas Fair
will be held on the grounds of historic
West Parish of Barnstable Congre-
gational Church, 2049 Meetinghouse
Road (Route 149), West Barnstable,
on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to
3 p.m. Among the offerings will be
handmade crafts, dried floral ar-
rangements, fresh cranberries and
homebaked goods. The cafe will be

Nearly 1,600 units of blood are
needed every day to help those in
