Members were entertained at
Anne Standlsh Restaurant where
their monthly meeting was held ,
by an exhibit ot ceramics and a
talk on process by Mrs. Marion
Wood of South Yarmouth. A busi-
ness meeting preceded the program
and refreshments followed. Nov.
17 was set for a rummage sale In
Masonic Hall, and plans were made
for a Christmas bazaar, bridge and
tea, and . the monthly business
meeting and annual Christmas
party Dec. 9 in the same hall. New
members .welcomed were Mrs.
Graham N. Scudder, Mrs. Mary G.
Santos and Mrs. Arthur Lorrett.
Mrs. Lawrence H. Rivers was a
guest. There were 44' members and
guests present.
PHILOPTOCHOS SOCIETY
This group ot Greek ladies made
plans for future activities and
voted $5 to the Neediest Families
Fund at its monthly meeting. On
account of the resignation of Mrs.
Irene Davis as sick and relief
chairman, Mrs. Louis J. Panesis
and named to take her place.
Plans include a sale of Oriental
pastries and cakes Dec. 11 with
Mrs. Alex Copelakis as chairman ;
a children 's Christmas party and a
New Year's Eve party to be ar-
ranged by the executive board ,
Mrs. Nicholas Sethares, chairman.
The next meeting and social will
be Dec. 1. Social committee com-
prised Mesdames Christ Terpos ,
Grace Sethares and William Kalos.
CAMPFIRE GIRLS
Ehawee group chose Its name at
a recent meeting at the home of
Wesley D. Hatfield , guardian , when
the officers were installed by her.
The slate Included president. Ruth
Hodge; vice-president. Barbara
Tatfleld; secretary, Eleanor Mede-
iros. anil treasurer , Linda Libbey.
They started hemming and em-
broidering the Insignia on their
red neckerchiefs.
Sponsors of this group are Mrs.
Gordon H. Libbey, Mrs. John C.
Medeiros and Mrs. Frederick M.
Hodge. Meetings are held weekly
in the same place. Other members
of this group are Patricia Bassett ,
Jean Bearse, Carol Campbell ,
Nancy Desmond, Pauline Peters ,
Carol Soucy and Donna St. Peter.
TUESDAY NIGHT CLUB
This club will serve a public
supper tomorrow in Masonic Hall
from 5 to S p.m. They will meet
for a business meeting at S p.m.
Tuesday at the home of Mrs.
Elizabeth Grace.
HYANNIS GRANGE
A public demonstration of house-
hold articles at 9 p.m. Monday at
Red Men 's Hall will follow an S
o'clock business meeting. Mrs.
Alma Perry, lecturer , is in charge.

GARDEN CLUB
Tuesday afternoon members will
meet at the West Barnstable*
Screenhouse of the N. E. Cran-
berry Sales Company for a tour ot
the place. After this they will go
to the home ot Mrs. Sydney D.
Knott to hear a short talk on the
culture of the berries by Mr. Ralph
Thacher which will be followed by
a business meeting and refresh-
ments.
JEWISH WOMEN
Following an 8 o'clock business
meeting Wednesday in the Cape
Cod Synagogue auditorium mem-
bers of the Jewish Men's Club will
be guests. A cultural program In
the form of a debate will be In
charge of Mrs. R. Ralph Home,
co-chairman of that committee.
There will be a debate on "The
Future of Judiasm Lies in the Re-
form Type of Worship. " The
affirmative side will be taken by
Selwyn Leen and Mrs. Jackson
Rice and the negative by R. Ralph
Home and Mrs. Noel Sabatt. The
judges will be Dr. Julius Golden
and two chosen trom the audience,
and timekeeper will be Mrs. Harry
Sobel. Refreshments will be served
by Mesdames George Myers. Ben-
jamin Kepnes, Hyman Hlrsch and
Mrs. Home.
LEGION AUXILIARY
A food sale will be held at Butt- '
ner's Store at 10:30 a.m. November ,
18th In charge of Mrs. Mary San- '
tos. She will arrange for collec-
tions if notified.
ANNIVERSARIES
The 19th wedding anniversary
of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon B. Bearse
is tomorrow ; Mr. and Mrs. Francis
V. Murray will be married 7 years
Monday, and Mrs. Daniel Bearse
will be 82 next Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Irving Howland of

50th wedding anniversary. Their
daughter , Mrs. John B. Miller of
New Bedford will assist with
arrangements. An invitation is

FEDERATED CHURCH
The church is cooperating with
the "Religion in American Life"
movement sponsored by 17 denom-
inations , the Synagogue Council of
America, and the United Canvass,
under the leadership of prominent
Americans and with the assistance
of the Advertising Council of Amer-
ica in encouraging church attend-
ance.
I "Finding Yourself Through
!Faith, Come to Church" is the na-
tional slogan being used by coop-
[erating churches throughout Amer-
ica. Spot announcements concern-
ling the emphasis were given over

593 radio stations last week.
"To the Best of Our Ability So
Far As Religion Is Concerned" will
be the sermon subject at both 9:30 '
iand 11 on Sunday. The Junior
Choir , directed by Mrs. Warren
Cook, will sing at 9:30, and the
Church Choir will sing at 11. Morn-
ing congregations continue to show
an increase in attendance weekly
over last year and all previous
years, with new families and folk
unitin g each week. Folk of all
faiths are Invited.
New members are invited in all
sessions of the Church School.
Families without cars, at a distance
from the church , may obtain bus
service by calling the minister or
Frederick L. Hull.

Business at Tuesday's meeting
included voting to purchase 10
Christmas gifts for hospitalized vet-
erans, acceptance of four applica-
tions, appointment of Mrs. Robert
Counsel and Mrs. Joseph C. Kelley
to the finance committee , and Mrs.
Counsel was named ehairmun of
the National Essay Contest. A re-
cipe exchange was planned for No-
vember 22. Hostesses were Mrs.
Everett BlBbee, MrB. Emerson Clou-
tier and Mrs. Michael Burns.
LEGION AUXILIARY
New members reported at n
meeting Tuesday evening were
Mrs. Ann Mullane and Mrs. Con-
stance Marcelline. They voted *10
to the Veterans Christmas Gift
Fund and $10 to the Junior Ameri-
can Legion Baseball Team. Also
voted was the purchase of 3000 pop-
ples. Delegates appointed to the
10th District Council Saturday in
Plymouth were Mrs. Madeline
Mather , Mrs. Clara Cairns and Mrs.
Barbara Scudder; alternates, Mrs.
Diane Robbtns and Mrs. Louise
Savery. Mrs. Mary Santos will be
chairman of a Christmas party for
children of veterans December 17.
December 20 was set for the an-
nual Christmas party and supper
for Auxiliary and Post members.
Members are requested to meet to-
morrow at Sherman Square at 10
a.m. for the Armistice Day parade,
and wear uniforms if possible.
GRADUATE NURSES
Information of students ' funds
existing on the Cape was given to
this group Monday evening at the
nurses home after the monthly bus-
iness meeting. The speaker was
Arnold H. Rogean of Barnstable
1 High School. The sum of $21.45 was
reported made on the recent rum-
mage sale. Plans were made for a
Christmas party after the Decem-
ber 5 meeting.

BAYOLA CLUB
After an 8 p.m. business meeting
next Thursday members will be en-
tertained by Miss Ruth Shaw of
Dennis, an expert in linger paint-
ing. Mrs. Emily Toolas Is chairman
of the program. Refreshment chair-
man Is Mrs. Viola Benjamin , and
others are Mesdames Angle Cox,
Muriel Anderson, Viola LeGrand ,
Clara C. Dyer and Mabel Hinckley.
YOUNG MOTHERS
Projects by this Club are sale of
Christmas cards in charge of Mrs.
William Howes, a blanket club be-
ing conducted by Mrs. Robert Hill
and the sale of costume jewelry
for Christmas gifts in charge of
Mrs. Francis Brown, In whose home
the members met Monday evening.
Plans were made for the annual
Thanksgiving dinner Nov. 22, with
husbands joining them. Mrs. Wil-
liam Angell is a new member.
BAPTIST CHURCH
Sunday, Nov . 13th, will be Men
and Missions Sunday and will he
so observed. Participating In the
service will be two laymen, Wesley
Hatfield and Byron Hall,
The Church School meets as
usual at 9:45 Sunday morning with
the service of worship following at
11. The Nursery Class also meets
ut 11 In the Bearse Room. In the
afternoon , the Junior High Fellow-
ship meets at 5 and the Youth Fel-
lowship at 6.
Monday night at 6:30 comes the
Men's Brotherhood Supper.
Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the
Parish House Is the fifth Besslon of
the Cape Cod School of Religion.
Thursday at 7:30 p.m. the choir
rehearsal will be held in the sanc-
tuary. The Bayola Club will meet
at 8:00.
BIRTHDAY PARTY
Twelve-year-old Lois B. Gaylord
celebrated her birthday Monday
evening with a dinner party. Cen-
terpiece was a decorated lighted
cake. Prize for winners in games
were given to Judith Leach, Jac-
queline Tulloch, Janice Jacobson
and Patricia Kenneally. Elvera
Jones, Lorraine Doherty and Eliza-
beth Sylvester were the other girls
present.

A business meeting will be at 8
o'clock Monday in Baldwin Hall

Mrs. Armand Drouln is home
from Cape Cod Hospital after an
operation.
Ruth Morln , B. H. S. '47, Is study-
ing at the Fisher School in BOB-
ton, being enrolled in the Foreign
Trade Secretarial Course.
PERSONALS
Sergeant Francis P. Lambert and
wife planned to leave Fort Bliss,
Texas, today to Bpend his 30 days'
furlough on the Cape, He is at-
tached to the 5th A.A.A. They will
visit his mother, Mrs. Robert B.
Chamberlain, of Hyannlsport and
Mr*. Lambert' s parents In West
Barnstable. She is the former Alma
Wllnlkainen and plans to remain
here for a while after her husband
reports for duty In Chicago.
Mrs. Emily Hinckley, accom-
panied by her daughter, Betty Ann
went to Worcester Tuesday with
her father, Edward F. Dean, to
spend the winter with her parents.
Mr. and Mrs. William C. New-
ton arrived safely at their home in
Tucson, Arizona, where they went
by auto.
Mrs. Fritz Kelley and her daugh-
ter, born Oct. 29, in Cape Cod
Hospital, are at home.
Mrs. Harold L. Bearse and her
daughter Charlene Ann, born in
Cape Cod Hospital November 1,
are at home in Hyannlsport.
