Steve Kilmurray put in another terrific perfor-
mance, as did teammates Matt Zall and Felipe
Ribeiro.

The Lady Raiders ended an-
other perfect season this week
with awin against Case on Mon-
day evening before beginning
preparations for tournament
play that begins on Tuesday.
In Monday 's 3-0 game BHS
was the dominating force from
the get-go,withthe team demon-
strating the communication and
cohesiveness that has garnered
them such success.
The Raiders swept Case with
a perfect 20-0 match followed
by 25-14,25-6 . and 25-6,im-
pressing the gathered crowd
immensely.
Stephanie Bristol had 13
strong kills in the four matches
while Kara Cullen turned in
nine. Marissa Pita greatly as-
sisted in the win by chipping in
five aces.
In the setter position Amanda
Parker was formidable,provid-
ing a stunning 36 assists for the
Lady Raiders.
Playing in their last official
regular season game were se-
niors Erin Johnson and Natalie
Cohen. Always fiery, Johnson
and Cohen pitched in six kills
each. "Natalie has had a very
productive season with great
play both at the defensive and
offensive end," said head coach
Tom Turco. "Erin Johnson's
versatility at the Right Front
position gave us an effective
block on the outside and another
setting option."
Turco also noted that Nora
Wood, Allie Appleman and Jes-
sie Goode have been excellent
defensively, while Casey Egan
and Kristi Everson contributed
greatly to the offense late in the
season.
"Perhaps the most improved
Dlaveikhasb pen KortnevKellev. "
said Turco."She has done agreat
job defensively and produces
from the service line."
The win caps another stellar
season for the Raiders whofinish
at 20-0. On Tuesday the team
takes to the court at 7 p.m. for
the South Sectional Quarter

goal of the team is to win a state
championship, and to along the
way put themselves in a situa-
tion that would allow us home
court advantage ," explained
Turco of his team'stournament
mindset. "It is afive-step process
to achieve their goals. You can't
skip a step and you can't get to
the next step without climbing
the one in fn>i(tt of vou."

BLANKETED IN SPIRIT - Braving the chilly night air were three BHS fans pleased to watch a victory unfold for the Raiders, who bested Taunton 25-13.
Although the BHS girls var-
sity soccer team put forth
a tremendous effort in
their final season game this week,
they were just no match for the D-
Y Dolphins, who came away with
a 3-0 win on Monday night.
The season may have ended on
a down note, but the BHS girls
mounted a superb effort. While
D-Y netted three goals within the
first 13 minutes of the game, BHS
continued to battle it out until
the final whistle.
Jessie Barron showed determi-
nation as she repeatedly fought
for control of the ball, while team-
mate Jess Kaye also stepped into
the fray on more than one occa-
sion.
After being sidelined for several
minutes with a possible injury,
Jordanka MacNeely returned to
the game with a vengeance, but
was unable to help BHS find the
net.
Solid defense by BHS prevent-
ed D-Y from scoring during the
second half, and kept the ball in
consistent back and forth play.

GAME GEAR - Putting their heads together for a win against Taunton, the Raiders
were a formidable team.

CELEBRATING VICTORY - After defeating the Taunton Tigers 25-13, the BHS varsity
football team savored a celebratory moment post-game.
AT THE READY-Awaiting
the signal to begin, the BHS
Marching Band forms an
imposing line along Leo M.
Shields Field prior to kickoff
at Friday night's game against
Taunton.
As
the Taunton Tigers and
the BHS Raiders made
their departure from Leo
M. Shields Field P'riday night, one
name remained in all minds.
For the Tigers, the name meant
defeat. For the Raiders, the name
meant victory. No matter which
team one played for, though, they
all had to give that player his
props for a game well played.
With a chill in the air and family
in the stands to celebrate Barn-
stable's Senior Night, BHS quar-
terback Ryan Tremblett was hot
from the start, leading his team
to a hard-fought 25-13 win over
Taunton.
The game began with a rousing
tribute to senior football players,
cheerleaders,and their parents,
who were honored in a pre-game
ceremony. Then it was time for the
Raiders to take the field,which
they did with ferocity.
During the first half, the BHS
defense made several impressive
stands, preventing Taunton from
finding their zone, even from mer
feet away.
At one point the Tigers pushed
to the BHS 6-yard-line before a
sweet interception by Robert Ful-
ham thwarted their efforts.
Late in the second quarter,
Tremblett gave the Raiders a 6-0
lead on a 13-yard run. Keeping
the excitement high, the Tigers
responded with a touchdown of
their own that included a success
ful extra-point kick to overturn
Barnstable 's lead.
Not for long.
With just 4:12 left in the third,
Tremblett found Donny Campbel
open. Football tucked safely in th
crook of his arm, Campbell turnet
in an awesome 74-yard score to
return the lead to BHS.
Not content to let BHS rest
on its laurels, Tremblett spurred
his motivated charges onward to
another TD with Dave Wiseman,
Jake Fulham, C.J. Ellis, Ben Ed-
wards, and Mike Allen paving the
way for Dean Tillman and Zach
Wilson.
Wilson, back in full form after
an injury sidelined him during the
previous home game, netted the
final touchdown of the game for
Barnstable with Casey Hanf add-
ing the extra point with a stellar
kick.
While Taunton garnered one
last TD in the final seconds of the
game, it went largely unnoticed
with Barnstable 's high score.
The win brings the Raiders
to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the
Old Colony League. Barn-
stable's next home game will
be the big Thanksgiving Day
match against Falmouth, to
be preceded by the return of
the pre-game parade and pep
rally.
