¦'I have heard of many cases of decided benefici.il
effects from its u«e, especiall y in Asthma, and Chronic
r0u"h of spasmodic character. I have used the Wild
Cherry a great deal in practice, and with marked good
results in "those cases of great serious mobility, and it-
ratability, to which phthisical patients are subject. I
have no doubt it is the best form in which the effects of
Pfussic acid may he had as a sedative on the constitu-
tion witho ut danger to the patient. Every one knows
the reputation of the Turpentine and Balsam constitu-
ents in protracted coughs. The combination of these
principles in Wistar's Balsam of Wild Cherry is inge-
nious and judicious. . __ _
Meilieal men , are justly distrustful of Patent Medi-
cines in general , but candor must discriminate between
outrageous nostrums and humbugs and those medicines
which" have proven salutary, and in many well attested
cases, curative."

Extension of the C. C. Branch Rail Road.
AT the last Annual Meeting of the Stockholders of
the Cape Cod Branch Rail Road Company, an ap-
propriation was made to pay ith c expenses of Mirveys
for the extension of saJd railjroad to Hvannis and Yar-
mouth. Under this auViorijy, Mr. Thomns Doane , an
experienced Eng ineer, Vasfmi ployed and the surveys
have been made, and theTblfhs, profiles and estimates
of cost are comp leted.
