Notice.
[£^"Doctor P. Pineo has removed his residence to
the house formerl y occup ied by S. B. Phinney, oppo-
site the Patriot Office , where he can hereafter be con-
sulted professionall y, at all hours of the day and night.
There is, perhaps no disease , with which our coun-
try is aff ected , whirh sweeps off annuall y so many vic-
tims , as that fell destroyer of the human race, Con-
sumption. What a vast amount of suffering might be
saved tlie huiran famil y if they would but avail them-
selves in season of the remedies which nature has pro-
vided for he r child ren , and which science has reduced
to such a for m as to be within the reach of all. Far be
it from us to tamper with those who are suffering with
this painfu l disease. In offering you a remed y, we do
not nnk yon to rely upon the representation of those
who mi ght be actuat ed by selfish and pecuniary m©-
tives , but we give you the deliberate testimony of some
of the most respectable physicians , that Wistar 's Bal-
sam of Wild Cherry, has established for itself a reputa-
tion that cannot be assailed. Dr. Wrn . A. Shaw , of
Washington , N. C, writes under date of May 1, 1846.as
follows :—
•'I have heard of many cases of decided beneficial
effects from its use, especiall y in Asthma , and Chronic
Cough of spasmodic character. I have used the Wild
Cherry a great deal in practice, and with marked good
results in those cases of' great serious mobility, and ir-
ratability , to which phth isical patients arc subject. I
have no doubt it is the best form in which the effects of
Prussic acid may be had as a sedative on the constitu-
tion without danger to the patient. Every one knows
the reputation of the Turpen tine and Balsam constitu-
ents in protracted coug hs. The combination of these
princi ples in Wistar 's Balsam of Wild Cherry is inge-
nious and judicious.
Me dical men , are justl y distrustful of Patent Medi-
cines in general , but candor must discriminate between
outrageous nostrums and humbugs and those medicines
which have proven salutary , and in many well attested
cases , curative. "

the one price system as possible ; but now being com-
pletel y under way , and behind none in my line of
