and in Kathmandu; started writ-
ing fiction and worked toward a j
master of fine arts while holding
down four jobs: spinning/
aerobics instructor, personal
trainer, dance instructor, and
moonlighting doctor); and then
published her novel, Breaking
the Tongue. And we left out the
poetry writing and more.
She'll be speaking as part of
the Lowell Lecture series (free
admission) on why we should
write and why we should read
"in the age of war, terrorism,
and environmental decline."
