The free fall foreign film series has

science building. Three Colors: Blue,
playing Oct. 10, stars Juliette Binoche
and is chock full of thrills, passion,
intrigue and more. Three Colors: White,
plays Oct. 17 when a Polish man is
devastated after his new bride ditches
him, sending him into revenge mode.
Senior Center film
program
Tim Allen goes to the dogs - actually
becoming one - in The Shaggy Dog.
See this family comedy at 1 p.m. Oct.
13 at Barnstable Senior Center, Route
28 in Hyannis. Free admission.
Weekly films and food
The Island Merchant, 10 Ocean St.
in Hyannis, has screenings of popular
films every Tuesday evening. Food
and drink samples related to the film
are served on the side at 7 p.m. The
screenings are at 7:30 p.m. Admis-
sion for the package is $15 or you
can order off the menu.

A Victorian celebration
with Schubert

of Franz Schubert by attending a
Schubertiade in the newly refurbished

Prague Chamber to
perform here
Pianist Menahem Pressler joins the
Prague Chamber Orchestra Oct. 22
at 3 p.m. at the Tilden Arts Center,

group, playing sans conductor, per-

Village
The Barnstable Restaurant and

Drag'n lady
Opera singer Michelle Vought per-

songs into a dapper Don Juan per-

The 2nd
Annual PIXY 103 and RJL
Memorial Fund Battle of the Bands is
held Oct. 7 at Pufferbellies in Hyannis.
The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the
first of ten bands takes over the stage
starting at 7 p.m. Bands include Sara
Leketa, Broke on Friday, Sparkola, 3'"
Left and others. Tickets for this 18-
plus show are $10 at the door.

A Ray of sunshine
Ray Rasicot performs at the Pad-
dock Restaurant, West Main Street in
Hyannis, Friday and Saturday evenings
when he'll be playing the Hammond
Organ (B-3) as well as the piano. He's
solo on Friday nights but on Saturday
he will be joined by Mike Crocco on
sax and clarinet for pop classics and a
selection of favorite show tunes.

the Island Merchant
Saturdays at The Island Merchant,
10 Ocean St. in Hyannis, feature
either a DJ or an '80s theme; call for
schedule. Chandler Travis & Modern
Maturity play at 7 p.m. every other
Wednesday, with Open Mic Night at
9:30. Thursdays bring jazz piano with
Mike Brooke from 8 to 10 p.m. (no
cover). There's funk jazz with Inter-

8 and 12 and there's Mayhem on Main
Street on Oct. 10. Sister Cheryl rounds

Barbership singers to
play
The New Cape Cod Surftones
barbershop harmony singers perform
Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. at Cape Cod Com-
munity College in West Barnstable.
Featured in the concert will be the
Ring quartet, the Dissonance Jazz
Band, the quartet, Feeling Good. The
South Shore Men of Harmony will
also be on stage. Tickets are $15 by

The U.S. Coast Guard Heritage
Museum at the Trayser on Route 6A

The YMCA of Cape Cod, Route

Night Out Program when children are

NOAH Center needs
blankets
The NOAH Center emergency
shelter for adults needs blankets to
give away. New and used ones may

Preschool music classes for ages 18

for $9 a class. Kindergarten-age

CIGSYA activities
The Cape & Islands Gay & Straight
Youth Alliance has a dance room, cyber
center, library, TV room and game room
as well as several programs and activi-
ties. There are monthly dances, support
meetings for all family members, movie
nights, pot-luck dinners, tutoring and
mentoring. CIGSYA is located at 56
Barnstable Road in Hyannis and serves
people 22 and under. Circle for Youth
meets from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Mondays
at the club house. Activities include
creative writing, visual art, dance,
theater and more. A new conversational
group for people who have questions
about gender meets the second and
fourth Wednesday of the month at 8
p.m. A new social and support group
for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-
gender people 21 and older has been
