night at 6:30 p.m. when there will be
songs and stories, through Dec. 12. An
after-school program is held Wednes-
days at 4:30 p.m. when grades K-3 en-
joy books and crafts, through Dec. 13.
Eastham Public Library
The Eastham Public Library has weekly
storytime Fridays at 10:30 a.m. for chil-
dren up to age 5. A craft session follows.
The library also hosts a monthly "Magic
The Gathering" trading card game pro-
gram for ages 11 and up the first Tuesday
of each month from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. All
are free, but you must sign up in advance

Seasons greetings
"Turn, turn, turn" might be the theme
of Carole Chisholm Garvey's new pastel
paintings (this one is Fire Light) of the
changing seasons, appearing in an exhibi-
tion and sale at the Cahoon Museum
of American Art on Route 28 in Cotuit
through Nov. 19. There's an opening re-
ception Oct. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. with John
Miller on piano, and Garvey will conduct a
pastel landscape workshop Oct. 25 from 9

Turn your art into cash
The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod
presents the 11th
Making Art, Making
a Living one-day conference held this
year on Nov. 4 at Cape Cod Community
College, Route 132 in West Barnstable.
Targeted subjects include grant writing,
copyright issues, contracts, marketing,
promotion and more. Admission is $45

Art association's offerings
An open juried exhibition runs through
Oct. 9 at the Cape Cod Art Association.
Children's art classes include Art for
Mommy & Me (ages 2-3), offered Tues-
days; Books We Love: Art for New Read-
ers (ages 3-6), offered Tuesdays and
Fridays; Art Discovery (ages 3-4), offered
Thursday mornings and afternoons; and
Saturday Art Discovery (ages 5-7 and 8-
10). Fees vary and all classes are held at
the association's galleries and studios at
3480 Route 6A in Barnstable village. Live
auction of select pieces Oct. 8 at 2 p.m.
Preview from noon to 1:30 p.m. Artist
Members' Exhibit held Oct. 13 through

Americana art exhibit
A Celebration of Americana is held
Oct. U when Kindreds Antiques and
Folk Art hosts a special exhibition from
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
What's up at the Cahoon?
The Cahoon Museum of American
Art, Route 28 in Cotuit, offers docent
tours every Friday at 11 a.m. Classes
include Sailor 's Valentine, folk painting
watercolor, bird carving, and more. An
exhibit of paintings, wood blocks and
more by Margaret J. Patterson is on
display through Nov. 12. A tour is led
Oct. 6 at 11 a.m The opening recep-
tion is Oct. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. Carol
Chisholm Garvey displays landscape
paintings through Nov. 19. She shares
the Patterson reception on Oct. 6 and
will lead a pastel workshop Oct. 25
at 9 a.m. at Freedom Hall on Mam St.

Contemporary landscapes by Kulvin
der Kaur Dhew are on display through
Oct. 7. The Center at 4404 Route 28
has classes for adults and children in
painting, theater, life drawing, mixed
media, assemblage , hatha yoga, Kri-
palu yoga, art exploration for kids, and
more. Recent works by Anna Bayles
Arthur are on display Oct. 14 through

Dec. 3 at the Cape Cod Museum of Art , Route 6A in Dennis. Founded in 1875 by students dissatisfied with traditional
learning opportunities of the time, some well-known students represented in the show include Georgia O'Keefe , Leo
Manso, Will Barnet, Fairfield Porter and Cape artist Edwin Dickinson. The works that will be exhibited reflect the art
movements of the last 125 years.
