The SDA Church runs the
Bayberry Christian School for

of each month, a potluck dinner
is offered following the service.

Special speaker at St. Pius
Father Roger Landry will speak at St. Pius
X Parish Education Center in South Yarmouth
Oct. 14 when his topic will be "Faithful Catho-
lics and the Defense of Marriage" at 11 a.m. A
buffet lunch follows. Tickets are $10 by calling

Mass for Peace is Monday
Bishop George W. Coleman of the Roman
Catholic Diocese of Fall River will leadthe annual
procession and Mass for Peace Monday.
Marchers should meet before 5:45 p.m. at
St. Mary's Cathedral at Spring and Second
streets in Fall River to march one half-mile to
St. Anne's Church, where the Mass for Peace
will begin at 7 p.m.
Faith formation director hired
Claire M. McManus, formerly director of high
school-level religious education and youth
ministry at St. Christine Parish in Marshfield,
has been named the first director of faith
formation by the Roman Catholic Diocese of
Fall River. McManus, who holds a master's
degree in pastoral ministry from Boston Col-
lege and a licentiate degree in sacred theology
from the Weston Jesuit School of Theology in
Cambridge, will oversee the offices of religious
education, youth ministry, and adult education
and evangelization.
Meditation offered for
beginners
The Cape Sangha,aZen Buddhist meditation
group, meets Sundays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at
the Old Schoolhouse on Route 6A in Barnstable
village. All are welcome, and basic instruction
in meditation is offered to beginners.
Zen Center presents weekly
meditation
The Cape Cod Zen Center has weekly
meditation practice at the Unitarian Church of
Barnstable, Barnstable village on Route 6A.
The Tuesday morning group meets at 8 for
meditation in the RE area downstairs. There
is meditation instruction on Fridays at 6:40
p.m. in the library and a Friday Evening Group
meets in the library, behind the sanctuary, at
7 for meditation. There are also retreats, field
trips to the Providence Zen Center and monthly
