That certain parcel of land , to-
gether with the buildings thereon,
situated in the extreme Westerly
part of the Village of Hyannis,

Northwardly by West Main
Street , so-called leading from Hy-
annis Village to Centerville Vil-
lage, about sixteen (16) rods;

Attendants at the Village Church
next Sunday morning will hear
Mr. Edwin J. Boulter of West
Barnstable Road. Mr. Boulter is a
familiar and welcome occupant of
this pulpit.
CIVIC ASS'N
Having completed its work as
far/ as possible to date on its first
two objectives—the Zoning Plan
and the Centerville Beach problem,
on which attention will continue
to be given, our Civic Association
plans to open a series of meetings
beginning about the first of Janu-
ary for consideration of the fur-
ther needs ot the village.
CIRCLE RUMMAGE
The Ladies' Circle suggests that
this is an excellent time to rescue
the "white elephant" from the at-
tic and cellar and herd them to-
ward the Circle rummage sale,
where they will be put to good
use, here, there and elsewhere.
The sale Is the 19th and contribu-
tions may be left with the presi-
dent , Miss Annis Sturgls , or they
will be called for if you desire.
FRIENDSHIP GUILD
The Friendship Guild held its
first meeting of the year Monday
night, Oct. 3, in the vestry ot the
church. A covered dish supper was
followed by a business meeting
and entertainment and plans for
the coming winter were discussed.
Mrs. Alma Perry, Mrs. James Pen-
dergast and Mrs. Kauko Pukkl
were in charge.
The Guild members are arrang-
ing for a nursery class during
the church hour. Parents may
leave their children in the veBtry,
while they attend the church serv-
ice. This will enable both parents
to attend church , while their chil-
dren are being well cared for.
Parents are asked not to bring
children with, colds, so as not to
endanger the others, Toys which
may be repaired, to be used by
the little folks, will be useful and
welcome. Mrs. Pukkl and Mrs,
Perry will call for the toys, If re-
quested. The following members
and friends have - offered their
services: Mrs. Stephen Hays, Mrs.
Edward White, Mrs. Alvln Perry,
Mrs. Harry Johnson. Mrs. Kauko
Pukkl and Mrs. Stephen Puller.
The assistance of others will be
welcome.
Member s of the Guild are now
starting to canvass for the church
clock fund. Most everyone knows
that this la a community clock
placed in our church tower for tbe
benefit of all. It is hoped that all
will be generous in giving as the
face is in need ol repairs,
PASTORAL COMMITTEE
The Pastoral Committee or the
Village Church has been appointed
as follows: Charles A. Altmiller,
chairman; William E. Beldan; Os-
car Johnson; Mrs, Arthur Patrick;
Mrs. Laurence Bearse; ex-officio,
Miss Dorothy Worrell , Moderator.
The committee held on Sunday af-
ternoon a joint meeting with the
committee from the West Barn-
stable Parish, and are to hold a
second meeting Monday evening,
October 10, at 7:30, in the vestry,
Mr. Altmiller resigned after the
first meeting because of leaving
town tor an extended stay. Mr. Bel-
dan has been appointed to succeed
nlm as chairman, and Henry s.
Knight to take his place as a mem-
ber of the Committee.
CHURCH SCHOOL
Our Church School rallied Sun-
day noon with good attendance
and the former list ot teachers,
also, a new face among them. Miss
Barbara Bearse will take a class
in the school. Miss Ernestine
Crocker Is the newly chosen
superintendent.
ATHLETIC ASS'N
The next regular meeting of the
Athletic Association will take
place on Tuesday evening, Oct. 1

Since its last meeting, water con-
nections have been laid to the field
and the roadway hardened.
POST-OFFICE MARKET
Ait important change has taken
place in tho business of our Village.
The Post-Office Market lias been
purchased by and passed into the
hands of Chester A. Hei-vey, who
will give it ills persoiuil supervision.
Our new grocer conies from West
Newton and his business connec-
tions have been in Boston where
for 30 years he has been actively
concerned in the retail shoe busi-
ness. Mr. Hervey assures us that
he is very liuppy to be embarked
on this new venture and to be In
this location. Centerville will not
he lacking in its welcome to the
new owner ot the P.- O. Market and
in support of the market itself.
Mr. Hervey brings with him his
wife, Mrs. Helen Hervey, who has
been active in Boclal , civic and
church affairs in Newton and a
daughter, Miss Jacqueline, recentl y
graduated from Boston University,
who will commute weekends to and
from her position in the First Na-
tional Bank in Boston. The family
is Congregational by preference and
membership and will find a warm
welcome and opportunities for ser-
vice In our Village Church.
FURNITURE REPAIRING
Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 7:30 p.m.
at the vestry, Miss Margaret Stev-
ens, Home Demonstration Agent,
will conduct a discussion on the
subject of Furniture Repairing and
will demonstrate methods. This is
an open meeting and all interested
are invited and welcome. The ar-
rangements have been made by
the Village Home Extension Com-
mittee which is composed ot MrB.
H. Heyworth Backus, Mrs. Edward
White, and Mrs. Laurence Bearse.
