Programs at the Boys &
Girls Club
The Boys & Girls Club in Mashpee
is open Monday through Friday from
2 to 6 p.m. Teen nights are held every
weeknight from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday night
the clubhouse is open from 6 to 10 p.m.
for teens. Additionally, the club is open
every Saturday starting in November as
well as during vacation weeks. Offerings
include Japanese drumming, photog-
raphy, homework tutoring and help,
horseback riding, lacrosse, a goal-set-
ting program, karate, basketball, dance,
computer, career prep, healthy living
and much more. A satellite Boys & Girls
Club for grades 7 through 12 is open
at Mashpee High School where there is
computer support, games, tutoring SAT
and MCAS prep and much more avail-
able. A Mad Science program for chil-
dren in grades K-6 is held on Mondays
at 4 p.m. through the end of October
when acid, dry ice, laser light, rockets

The Cape Cod Children's Mu-
seum, 577 Great Neck Road South in
Mashpee, is holding several classes.
Among the offerings is Toddler Time,
Pre-K Prep, Infant Time, Down on the
Farm, American Red Cross Babysit-
ting, Story and Craft Hour, a cooking
class and more. Me and My Dad event
is held Sept. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. when
there will be an obstacle course, ka-
rate demos, crafts, pizza, sundaes and

Annual Harvest Festival is
held Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
at the Barnstable County Fairgrounds,

tractor pulls, hay rides, bee informa-

Academy of Performing
Arts
Ray Girardin offers his adult acting
class for older teens and adults Mon-
days from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Acad-
emy of Performing Arts, 5 Giddiah Hill

Rover Dog to the rescue

Foster and adoptive
families needed
Social workers and local foster par-
ents are present the fourth Thursday of
every month from noon to 1 p.m. and
6 to 7 p.m. at the state Department of
Social Services, 32 Commercial St. in
South Yarmouth, to discuss foster par-
enting and adoption. Those interested

Coffee and an open mic
The YMCA of Cape Cod's coffee-
house for teens at Camp Lyndon in
Sandwich will be held the second and
fourth Saturday of each month from 7
to 9 p.m. Featured activities include
an open mike, musicians, dancing, an
art gallery, poetry readings and more.
Teens are welcome to perform or just
hang out. Admission is $2.
