It was a chance to see the whole family -of sculpted, colored and carved whales -in one place one last time. Fresh from their appearances around the peninsula, the objects -be they reimag- ined as race car or squid-cowboy combo - drew a last round of ooohs and aaahs. There were more gasps as the Whale Trail auction rolled up $130,000 for appreciative charities and other participating agen- cies.
