MARY MaeEACHERON Miss Mary E. MacEacheron, 34 , died suddenly lit Lynn on Septem- ber 23, at the age of 34. Born in Boston, she waa the daughter ot Charles P. and Mabel S. (Mclsaac ) MacEacheron. She had lived in Os- terville 33 years. Miss MacEacheron was gradu- ated from Barnstable High School and during World War It she was supervisor of inspections from chemical warfore at Northampton; Winthrop, Maine, and Hartford , Conn. For the past 1V6 years she had worked as a waitress in Bos- ton hotels. She was a communi- cant at Our Lady ot Assumption Church in Osterville. Survivors include her parents, a brother, Francis E. of Osterville; a sister, Mrs. Alfred Niska, Lynn ; one niece and one nephew and several aunts and uncles. Her funeral was held on Mon- day from the Doane, Beal and Ames Home, Hyannis, with a re- quiem high mass at Our Lady ot the Assumption Church here. FIRST GRADE ENROLLMENT Children enrolled In the First Grade of the Osterville Elementary School are Robert A. Adams, Jean Allen, Virginia Beaumont, Dennis Brandao, Bonnie Brown, Carlton Carlson, RoBert Caspersen, Mary Ann Childs, Gail Crosby, Patricia Flynn, Ravid G. Fuller, Stetson Hall, Robert Hallett , Susan Hans- berry, Theodore Harmon, Wayne Hinckley, Barbara Hopkins, Daniel Hostetter, Albert Hubley, Joy Adams Klttlla, Donald Lagergren, Sharon Lewis, William Phillips, Paul Pierce, Patricia Ann Pina, Carl S. Riedell, Terry Ann Rogers, John M. Sanford , Eileen Shields, Elizazbeth Ann Smith, Sandra Soares, Donna Swift, Robert Wal- ters, Bernard Webb and DIanne Wilson. SHOWER PARTY A shower party for Mrs. Thomas Aylmer was held at the home of Mrs. Dan Hamilton, Jr., in Center- ville, with Mrs. George Tsfknas of Hyannis as co-hostess. Guests at- tending from Osterville were Mmes. Walter Sanford, John S. Le- bel, Robert Lebel, William K. Crowell , John F. Shields, James Shields, Jr., and John Aylmer. SCHOOL POR TOTS Mrs. R, B. Paulson opened a kin- dergarten known as "The School for Little Tots" last Monday. The classes are held from 9 a.m. to 12, Mondays through Fridays, at Mrs. Paulson's home on Parker Road! SHARE LARGE ESTATE The estate of the late Miss Alice Smith, 82, socially prominent, of 620 Park Avenue, New York, has a number of Osterville residents sharing in it. Osterville legatees Include Pauline Fiske Letchford, Frances Letchford Carney, Caro- line L. Morris, Sally Letchford, Patricia Carney, W. Palmer Letch- ford , Jane Morris and Stephen Morris. Miss Smith died March 11, 1947. PERSONALS Miss Lida McLane of Jackson Heights, N. Y., has been spending two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred McLane of First Avenue. Sybil Bowes celebrated her fifth birthday anniversary with n neigh- borhood party at her home. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Santos, Miss Rose Souza and Antone Souzt, ac- companied Joseph Santos to New York on his way to Lakeland, Fin., where he enters his freshman year at Southern College. Richard Smith, who has spent a week visiting his grandmother, Mrs. Adrian Chadwlck, has joined his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Smith and sister, Paula, for a va- cation trip through the Berk- shires, after which he enters his sophomore year at Mlddlebury Col- lege, Vermont. Mr. and Mrs. John Alcock and MrB. Helen Williams of Osterville and Miss Anne Alcock of Boston spent a few days in Springfield the past week. Sanford Cobb, son of Mrs. Farrar Cobb, and the late Dr. Farrar Cobb, has returned for his junior year at Albany Medical College, Albany, N. Y. During the summer he was research assistant to Dr. Paul Galt- soff of the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service at Woods Hole. Niies Huckabee has left for Northfleld for his second year at Mt. Hermon School for Boys. Rev. and Mrs. Peter Patches spent last Thursday in Providence Where Rev. PalcheB attended a meeting, continuing on to New Hampshire to their summer home and returning on Saturday by the way of Northfleld , visiting their son, Peter, a student of Mt. Her- mon School. 1 PERSONALS Dr. Charles T. Hinckley spent the past weekend in New York. James Burlingame, who has en- tered his freshman year at Spring- field College, was given a farewell party by 40 of his friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Hop- kins on Tower Hill Road. He was presented a purse of money. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bowes have returned from a vacation trip to New Hampshire. Simon Gosln , Supervisor of Mu- sic in the Barnstable Schools, gave a demonstration of musical in- struments to the children of Or. 4, 5 and (i. Ann Sanford has re-entered school nfter being confined to her home with an infection. Mr. and Mrs. James Mnloney of LakewoQd, R. I., were recent guestB of Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Evans. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Stringer and daughter, Joan were in Rock- land recently to attend the wed- ding of Mr. Stringer's niece , Miss Barbara Stringer. Victor F. Adams attended the annual meeting of the Massachu- setts Selectmen's Association at Plymouth. Mrs. Elmer Whiteley is spending n week In Cambridge. Mr. and Mrs. Silas Whitehead and Mr. and Mrs. Scott Buckner and son John, have returned to ' their homes, after a trip to New York and Pennsylvania. Mr. and Mrs. James Hansherry visited their daughter, Martha , who was stricken ill on last week end and rushed by the Red Cross ambulance to Haynes Memorial Hospital , on Monday afternoon , finding her in good spirit and im- proving. Howard Johnson of Brockton has closed his PaBtry Shoppe for the season. Horace Parker is reported im- proved after a recent ill turn. H1B sister, Mrs. Walter Nickerann , had the misfortune to fall recently, but was not seriously injured Mrs. Anna Goodale and daugh- ters, Misses Eva and Ethel Roul- ston, have returned to their home In Dorchester, after spending the summer at the Mrs. Walter White lome on Parker Road. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Hall and children Sandra and Stetson, have returned to their home, utter spending the summer in one of Mrs. Emily Hniiett' s apartments, Mr. and Mrs. I. U. MacColl have closed their summer home at Winnno and returned to their home In New York. Miss Ann Pillow Halliduy and friend, Miss Mildre d Crawley, of Philadelphia spent several days at Miss Halllday 's cottage on Park- er's Pond. Joseph Santos, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Santos, has entered Florida Southern College, Lake- land, Fin. Mr. Santos was a 1940 graduate of Barnstable High School; was captain of the High School Band for three years. He was a member of the Osterville Hand and leader of (he "Tip Top" orchestra.
