them 41-7."
As the D-Y program has
struggled through the
years, the teams haven't
been opponents on a regu-
lar basis. In recent years
DY has made significant
gains, prompting coaches
from both towns to con-
sider a game.
"Over the years, their
program has improved ,"
said Barnstable Athletic
Director Steve Francis. "It
seemed like a real good
fit."
Although the two teams
don't have an ongoing
rivalry similar to that of
Falmouth and Barnstable ,
there are hopes that
proximity will add a spark.
"They 're from neighboring
towns," said Francis. "I
would think there would
be some rivalry."
Barnstable Head Coach
Paul Demanche agrees. "It
is a little bit of a rivalry
situation ," he said , noting
that each team garnered
wins last weekend that
have added to the excite-
ment.
BHS football alumnus
Jack Aylmer is looking
forward to the event.
"When I was matriculat-
ing at Barnstable , we did
not play them in an official
game," he said. "I don't
think it will replace the
Falmouth rivalry, but it
will certainly be a great
game."
"I think it will be an
exciting game," said
Barnstable Assistant
Coach David Hamshire. "I
think the Barnstable kids
have worked real hard.
Saturday 's win was big for
the program. "
In that game at Durfee ,
Ryan Tremblett brought
in a 61-yard touchdown on
the first play of the game,
bringing Barnstable fans
to their feet.
Tri-Captain Zach Wilson ,
who was recently named
by the Boston Herald as
one of the top 12 players
in the Massachusetts , had
two more touchdowns to
bring the game to 21-20 for
the win.
Tremblett came away
with 109 yards rushing on
17 carries , while Wilson
had 98 yards rushing on 16
carries.
Defensively, Donny
Campbell and C.J. El-
lis, also tri-captains , had
the plays of the game. As
Durfee attempted a 29-
yard field goal in a bid to
win, Ellis managed to tip
the ball, sending the kick
wide. Earlier, Campbell
stopped a run near Barn-
stable 's goal line with a
solid one-on-one tackle.
Fans will surely be
frenzied tonight for what
promises to be an excit-
ing, if not historical , high
school football event.
"This is a good ol' Cape
Cod football rivalry," said
Walsh. "It's something
that the old timers re-
member. I think it will be a
fantastic game."

showed grit, especially in
the game's first half when
they managed to hold off
Durfee. Mike O'Connell ,
Corey Hendricks, and Mike
Brown all put forth tremen-
dous effort in thwarting
many of Durfee 's attempts
to score.
Unfortunately, Durfee re-
fused to go quietly, rallying
back with four touchdowns
allowing them to claim the
game.
