U nder Saturday 's sunny skies, thousands of spectators turned out to watch the exciting 6th Annual Seaside Le Mans - The Race for the Cape Cod Community - at Mashpee Commons. Spectators were not only treated to a hotly-contested race, but also to the tunes of live bands, including Twenty- Eight and Dugan and the Kend- rick Road King, and a generous dose of kids ' activities. The four-hour endurance race featured 16 Formula kart teams with six drivers per team and was followed by a 30 minute "final showdown" to determine- the winner. Race contestants wheeled around a 1/4 mile track , negotiated tight corners and navigated under a bridge as they vied to qualify for the final showdown. The carts came from the Fl race facility in Braintree. At the end of the afternoon , the Cape Cod Aggregates team emerged as the race winner. E K. M. Construction/Bass River Marina grabbed second place and Allied Waste Services/E.J. Jaxtimer Builders garnered third place. Cape Cod Aggregates also checked in with the fastest lap of the day.
