The
cooling tempera-
tures are bringing a
quick end to a great
summer.As I type, the ac-
tivity at the hurnmingbird
feeder outside my office
window is non-stop as the
amazing little birds get
ready for the journey south
toward year-round nectar.
The Village of Centerville
is wrapping up a busy
summer.Like most of our
neighboring villages, our
Civic Association, mu-
seums, library and other
organizations have offered
us a schedule filled with
music, lectures, tours, and
treasure hunts, and Old
Home Week even brought
us a road race and a beach-
side bonfire. (Thanks, Roy
Richardson!)
Thank you to all who
gave us so many options
for entertainment this
summer!
Arts and Entertainment
inHyannis
This summer the town
offered up a new venue in
its Harbor YourArts Pro-
gram for music and theater
performances. Aselton
Park has become a perfect
venue for theaters on sum-
mer Sunday afternoons,
and concerts on Tuesday
evenings.
The stage is located at
the base of a hill that forms
a bowl, with the harbor
behind it creating a perfect
setup for viewing and
sound. My husband and I
joined a small crowd early
this summer on a Sunday
-.
afternoon to watch a tal-
ented group of Barnstable
Sfigh School students and
Alumni perform A Mid-
summer Night's Dream.
The day was hot, but the
breeze from the harbor
cooled the air and we were
able to enjoy a fabulous
performance.
The performances and
the work around the stage
are all part of a successful
project completed by staff
in our Growth Manage-
ment Department, and
involving art and theater
students from Barnstable
High School. For more
details, check out the Web
site www.harboryourarts.
com.
The Growth Manage-
ment department is also
responsible for the cha-
rettes, orvisioning ses-
sions, that have been held
with the Centerville Civic
Association. These meet-
ings will all come together
in a presentation this fall

org.
The department has
reviewed the priorities of
those who gave input, and,
based on that informa-
tion, will explore changes
in zoning and other tools
to protect the Craigviile
Beach area and explore
creating a more reason-
able zoning plan for our
Route 28 corridor between
Lumbert's Milland Phin-
neys lane, among other
issues.
Stay tuned!
