Church

Seventh Day
Adventist Church
The SDA Church runs the
Bayberry Christian School for
elementary grades. Separate
Sabbath School Bible studies
are held for children and adults
at 9:30 a.m. every Saturday
followed by Worship Service at
10:50 a.m. On the first and third
Sabbaths of each month, a pot-
luck dinner is offered followingthe
service. Wednesday night Prayer
Meetings are held at 7. The SDA

Church
Worship is held at 10 a.m. in

the service. The Sunday morning
Adult Education and Conversations
group meets at 9 with Women's
Fellowship. The church offers adult
and family choirs.
Unitarian Church of
Barnstable
Gail Kerr will be the guest
speaker at the 10 a.m. service
at the churc h on Route 6A in
Barnstable Village. She will be
discussing spirituality. Childcare
provided. All are welcome to
join the social hour after the
services.
United Methodist
Church
A worship service is held at the
57 Pond St. church in Osterville
at 8 a.m. in the Blaine Taylor
Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Herb
Taylorpreaches Aug. 13 at 8 a.m.
and 10 a.m. He is the son of the
Rev. Blaine Taylor for whom the
special RUN/WALK is held each
year. This year Big Brothers/Big
Sisters of Cape Cod will receive
onequarter oftheevent's revenue.
The run kicks off at 1 p.m. at the
church. The 10 a.m. service is in
thechurch sanctuary.Coffeehour
follows. Nursery care is available

Unity Church of the
Light
All are welcome at the service
at 10 a.m. in the Yarmouth Senior

Meditation offered for beginners
The Cape Sangha, a Zen Buddhist meditation
group, meets Sundays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at
the Old Schoolhouse on Route 6A in Barnstable
Village. All are welcome, and basic instruction in
meditation is offered to beginners.
'Chardonnay Shabbat' at Cape
Cod Synagogue
"Chardonnay Shabbat," a special Shabbat
service at the Cape Cod Synagogue, will begin at
5:30 p.m. Friday Aug. 11 at the Synagogue, 145
Winter St. Hyannis. Wine and cheese, as well as
non-alcoholic drinks, will be served before the
hour-long 6:15 p.m. service. All are invited. For

Cape Cod Synagogue open
house
Cape Cod Synagogue, 145 Winter St. will host
an open house for prospective members following
the Saturday Aug. 12 Shabbat services. Services
begin at 10:30 a.m. The open house follows from
noon to 2 p.m. Rabbi David Freelund, Cantor
Bruce Malin, synagogue president Judy Silverman,

Zen Center presents weekly
meditation
The CapeCod Zen Center has weekly meditation
practice at the Unitarian Church of Barnstable,
Barnstable Village on Route 6A. The Tuesday
morning group meets at 8 for meditation in the
RE area downstairs. There is meditation instruc-
tion on Fridays at 6:40 p.m. in the library and a
Friday Evening Group meets in the library, behind
the sanctuary, at 7 for meditation. There are also
retreats, field trips to the Providence Zen Center
