Cotuit ACTS Summer Workshops Free four-week Shakespeare work- shops for actors are held as part of the growing Cotuit ACTS (Actors' Circle for Training in Shakespeare) program started this year by Victoria McKee. Teens invited to rec nights The YMCA of Cape Cod, Route 132 in West Barnstable, hosts a Kids Night Out Program when children are invited to swim, play sports, create arts and crafts and more, each Friday evening from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Staff-supervised. Nominations wanted The Trustees of Whelden Memorial Library are accepting nominations for the Citizen of the Year Award to be given to a West Barnstable resident. Nomination forms are at the library, the Cape Cod Cooperative, West Barnstable Post Office and the Village Store. The award is presented at the annual West Barnstable Village Fest on Aug. 19. Nominations due by Aug. 5. CIGSYA activities The Cape & Islands Gay & Straight Youth Alliance has a dance room, cyber center, library, TV room and game room as well as several programs and activities. There are monthly dances, support meet- ings for all family members, movie nights, pot-luck dinners, tutoring and mentoring. CIGSYA is located at 56 Barnstable Road in Hyannis and serves people 22 and under. Circle for Youth meets from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Mondays at the club house. Around the Cape Katz one-night-only WHAT benefit Jonathan Katz brings his stand-up act to Wellfleet's Congregational Church in a special benefit performance for Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater. The show runs one night only on Thursday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. at the church, 200 Mam Street, Wellfleet. Community Foundation auction Wednesday The Community Foundation of Cape Cod will benefit from an auction of con- temporary and historic works by Cape artists. Skinner hosts auction at closing Brewster store Skinner, Inc., a leading auction house for antiques and fine art, will host an on-site auction at Kingsland Manor An- tiques, 440 Main St. Route 6A, Brewster on Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m. The auction marks the closing of the Brew- ster store after 35 years in business.
