This will be another family event that is sure to please! I recently attended the Indian Ponds Association Annual meeting, where the status of the three largest ponds in Marstons Mills was discussed. One of the real- izations that arose from this discourse was that there are almost as many preservation issues associated with our ponds as there are ponds in our town! And whilethere are manystaff and administrative folks that have been working on the various issues through the years, to date there is no unified effort on behalf of the ponds as a whole. I proposed at that meeting, as I have at others and also before the council, that it is time for the "Pond People" town-wide to join together and collaborate on ways to help our precious freshwater gems. I would like to hear from residents or groups that live on or near our ponds if they wish to work together for this worthy cause. Finally,a few words on con- stituent service. In addition to regular council meetings, councilors serve as liaisonsto some standing committees, members of ad hoc com- mittees, attend meetings, public events, etc. -in other words,we're kept pretty busy throughout the year. While I also work full time during the day, I value constituent service highly and do my best to help resolve any issues presented to me. I can be contacted through calling the Council Office 508-862- 4602 or sending me an e-mail at JLBartonLetters(«aol. com. If you call the Council office and can leave your e-mail address (if you have one), that would be appreci- ated. It's important to note that although I may not be able to return your call right away, if you present me with a specific issue I always re- fer it promptly to the Town Manager, who assesses the situation and remedies it if possible, or gets back to me with questions that I in turn refer back to you. Thank you for your understanding and patience - I enjoy meeting folks and helping when I am able - and I appreciate the opportunity to serve you. Please enjoy the summer, be safe, and come visit us in the Mills! i-_ .
