Cross-marketing gets your
name out to new consumers
You have a great regular
crowd at your restaurant or
coffee shop, but how are you
attracting new faces to your
place? Try cross-marketing
with another business or
event. Artscape Thursdays,
amonthly gallery stroll along
Hyannis' Main Street, of-
fers visitors a 20 percent
discount at participating
restaurants that link up with
this event.
Different hours might
bring different traffic
The John F Kennedy
Hyannis Museum is staying
open later on Thursday eve-
nings, and is seeing affluent
young professional museum
goers during those hours.
Many year-round residents
like to enjoy their summer
evenings after work and
businesses that stay open
may be rewarded with that
additional business.
Create a network
People do business with
people they know. This goes
for visitors and second-home
owners as well as full-time
residents and other busi-
nesses. Sponsor a
local event to get your busi-
ness' name out or attend
a Hyannis Area Chamber
networking opportunity and
let people know why they
should send their visiting
friends and relatives to your
location.
Try some fun public rela-
tions
How do you get the lo-
cal newspaper 's attention
when the heat is soaring at
99 degrees? Figure out how
to become part of the story.
Try cross-marketingwiththe
local ice cream shop by hand-
ing out free coupons. Get
them to return the favor with
coupons for your business.
Let areporter know and see
if they'll come down to take
a photo. Extreme weather
always makes news. Youcan,
too, by becoming the softer
side of those headlines.
These are just a few ideas
to heat up your business'
summer season even after
the record temps drop back
to the pleasant Cape Cod
norm. And if you're tempted
to complain for even a min-
ute about the heat and the
humidity of this week, just
wait for February, and then
you'll be looking forward to
hot fun in the summertime
once again.
