It's summer and what better way
to beat the doldrums than watch
DVDscontainingrepeat after repeat
of your favorite television shows on
your own terms.
Here are somehighlightsof upcom-
ingand previously released television
shows on DVD.
^^^^^
Perry Mason:
Season 1
Raymond Burr stars
in this classic, gripping
television show about
master attorney Perry
Mason who works to
defend seemingly un-
dependable clients.Bar-
bara Hale and William
Hopper co-star asDelia
Street and PaulDrake,
Mason's secretary and
investigator who help him dig up star-
tling facts in proving the innocence of
his clients. The collection is available
in stores now.
30 Days
Host and filmmaker Morgan Spur-
lock, previously seen in the fantastic
documentary Supersize Me where
he ate nothing but McDonald's for
30 days, hosts this fascinating series.
Spurlock asks people to step into
different worlds for 30 days to gain
better perspectives on them. Epi-
sodes include a Christian living with
a Muslim family,a straight man living
in ahomosexual area and perhaps the
best episode, in which Spurlock and
hiswife attempt to survivefor 30 days
living on rriinimumwage. 30 Days is
available now on DVD.
VoyageTo The
Bottom Of The
Sea
Richard Basehart
stars as Admiral Har-
riman Nelson of the
submarine Seaview.
The Seaviewissent out
to investigatethe mys-

found more problems
than answers. This is

show starring Bruce Campbell as
tough-as-nails Brisco County Jr. was
short-livedbut aclassic.Briscotravels

killedhisfather, and amysteriousorb.
Saddle up and sit backtoenjoyBrisco
andthe colorful characters,including
his horse Comet, who doesn't know
that he is a horse, as they engage
in some of the best adventures that
televisionhad to offer.TheAdventures
Of Brisco County Jr. is available on
DVD now.
Originally slated to be released in
October,muchto my despair,the sec-
ond season of Lost has been bumped
up to a Sept. 5 release. I've been told
thisisagreat season.Wefindout what
is down the hatch, we discover that
there are other survivors from the
Oceanic flight that crashed on this
mysterious island. This is perhaps
one of the best and most addictive
television shows ever andifyounever
have seen it before I suggest starting
withSeason One.Lost is a great show
and well worth your time
Prison Break
Another great serial show about a
man who gets imprisoned to break
out his brother, who is sentenced
to die for a crime he didn't commit.
Armed only with an intricate escape
plan,the two must race againsttime
to break out. Prison Break will be
released on DVD Aug. 8; thus you
will'have plenty of time to catch up
before the second season starts.
Hong Kong Phooey
Fansofthe '70scartoonseriesabout
mil- mannered janitor Penry Pooch
lives out his days cleaningthe police
department's floors while cleaning
up the streets as the crime-fighting
martial artist Hong Kong Phooey.
If you're excited about this, Magilla
Gorilla, the Hanna Barbera classic
about alovable andinept gorillainMr.
PeeblesPet shop, alsowillbereleased
on the same date Aug. 15.
Arrested Development
The hilarious but too-short-lived
comedy about the Bluth family will
be released onAug.29.Thisisthelast
season of what was probably one of
the best and most original situation
comediesinyears.It wasunfortunate
that the show was recently cancelled
but fortunately it will live on forever
on DVD.
