Barnstable High^chool's Astro Park. Reverdy and Jackie Reeves, her partner at Yellow House Studio, have

those found on the Parthenon. (For more, see page A:12).

SPIN DOCTORS - On a muggysummer night,a carnival ride atthe Barnstable County
Fair is a sure way to catch a breeze. The fair winds up tomorrow.

We went to the Barnstable
County Fair; the birds and the
beasts were there. So was the
Midway with games and rides; so
were the food stalls to feed the
insides.
Yes, we did go; Shaun, 12;
her grandmother; and myself.t
the great grandmother. When \
we arrived , around 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday, the fair was relative-
ly peaceful , but , like a sleeping
giant awakening, it picked up
speed and noise and by the time
we left , around 9:30 p.m. it was
booming. Between the noise
from the rides and the musical
venues, the joint was jumping.
First impressions were of lots
f f
of color and motion, noise and
food smells. Stuffed animal
prizes of all colors and sizes,
some bigger than a small child,
hung everywhere. The gaudily
decorated rides were very popu-
lar among old and young alike.
Swinging from side to side
and turning every which way. I
wondered about the stomachs
and heads. Kids love these rides.
Shaun said of the Zipper side,
"It was hurtful to my head and
not really scary." Her comments
about the Deluxe Sizzler were,
"It jerked my head. Don't sit on
the outside or you get smushed."
"After hearing after all these
negative comments from you," I
asked, "why do you go on all the
rides?" The reply was simple:
"It's fun."
My eye was caught by the
Bumblebee Ride for little kids.
The bees were very large, color-
ful and cartoony and the kids
