W Pope John Paul II High School, ' " ^ ^ ¦ "iMg*^! located in downtown Hyannis, will be ready to welcome its first class of students in September of 2007. Bishop George W.Coleman and FrankWard of Osterville, the new school's major benefactor, recently toured the facility to review the progress of the renovations being done to what was the original Barnstable High School. The building on High School Road in Hyannis last served as the Grade 5 School for the Town of Barnstable. The walls are being painted, the floors refinished, a chapel is under construction, and plans are finished for an enlarged and modernized science lab as well as a library with most of the books and research material available "on-line." Just last week the school's new principal, Christopher Keavy, relocated to the Cape from Parma, Ohio, and took charge of operations at Pope John . Paul II. He is hard at work developing a curriculum and planning for the initial teaching staff that will welcome the first freshman class in 2007. All questions and any contributions of time, material, and money should be directed to Dr. Edward Tynan at the school by calling 508.862.6336.
