EVENTS CALENDAR CONTINUED FROM PAGE C:4 ft _FILMS: Movies at the Sturgis Bring the family for free films based on children's books Thursdays at 4 p.m. The setting is Sturgis Library on Route 6A in Barnstable, and the juice and popcorn are free. Free movies in Hyannis The Barnstable Senior Center, Route 28 in Hyannis, has free movie screenings weekly at 1 p.m. All are invited to bring a lunch to munch through a show. March of the Penguins plays June 26 when the comical birds in the fancy tuxes strut their stuff. The June 30 flick is What 's the Worst That Could Happen? Find out when two conniving men vie for one-upmanship. Weekly films and food The Island Merchant, 10 Ocean St. in Hyannis, has screenings of popular films every Tuesday evening. Food and drink samples related to the film are served on the side at 7 p.m. The screenings are at 7:30 p.m. Admis- sion for the package is $15 or you can order off the menu. Hdfr MUSIC: Celtic festival The Cape Cod Celtic Society presents its 4th annual Celtic Festival through June 25. A cultural fair at Cape Cod Community College, Route 132 in West Barnstable is held June 24 when there will be music , dance, food and more. A concert with Beolach and others is on stage at 7:30 p.m. Also on June 24 is a Ceili featuring the Northeast Ceili Band at the Irish Village on Route 28 in West Yarmouth. Brunch is served June 25 at the Irish Village at noon followed by a concert and Ceili. For ticket information , call 508-760-8199 or go to www.capecodcelticsfestival.com Beachcomber rocks on the dunes Beside the sea in Wellfleet there lies a funky old rescue station that is now a restaurant and bar where mu- sic rings throughout the dunes calling old and young to dance the night away. Once again, the Incredible Casuals return for Sunday afternoon jams at 4. Admission is $8. Boch Center welcomes Manchester The Boch Center for the Performing Arts starts its season July 15 when singer/songwriter Melissa Manchester performs at 8 p.m. at Mashpee High School. Cultural center to host all that jazz A celebration of the arts and jazz is held June 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (rain date June 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, 307 Main St. in South Yarmouth, when there will be an art exhibit, jewelry, a production of Joseph Lincoln's The Manager, a jazz brunch, pottery, and much more. Big band benefit concert The Cape Cod Conservatory Jazz Ensemble performs music from Count Basie, Glen Miller, Duke Ellington and others June 27 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Pius Tenth Parish Life Center, Barbara Street in South Yarmouth. Free will offering to benefit the Den- nis Yarmouth Ecumenical Council to Prevent Homelessness. Benefit concert in Orleans Cape Cod Internet Radio pro- duces a benefit concert sponsored by Orleans Auto Supply July 4 at the VFW in Chatham between 2 and 7 p.m. Four local legends are slated to perform: Entrain, James Montgomery, George Gritzbach and Fred Clayton. Coffeehouse in Eastham Greg Greenway performs at the First Encounter Coffeehouse, 220 Samoset Road in Eastham, June 24 at 8 p.m. A Texas hoedown follows on July 8, when Frank Meyer takes over the spotlight. Summer concerts at Epoch in Brewster This summer Epoch Assisted Living at Brewster Place, 855 Harwich Rd. in Brewster, will host its ninth annual summer concert series. Chamber music fest The 33rd season of the Meeting House Chamber Music Festival begins July 1 at the Church of the Holy Spirit , 204 Monument Road in Orleans, at 8 p.m. Cellist Amit Peled is featured. Admission $18, under 18, free. Cape Codder Resort & Spa The Grand Cru Wine Bar at The Cape Codder Resort & Spa, Route 132 in Hyannis, hosts jazz nights weekly. Call 508-771-3000 for res- ervations. Pat Ryan performs June 30 and on June 24 Ann Austin is up. Bart Wiseman plays on June 23. A Ray of sunshine Ray Rasicot performs at the Pad- dock Restaurant , West Main Street in Hyannis, Friday and Saturday evenings when he'll be playing the Hammond Organ (B-3) as well as the piano. He's solo on Friday nights but on Saturday he will be joined by Mike Crocco on sax and clarinet for pop classics and a selection of favorite show tunes. Swing to the action at the Island Merchant Saturdays at The Island Merchant , 10 Ocean St. in Hyannis, feature either a DJ or an '80s theme; call for schedule. Wednesdays feature Chandler Travis & Modern Maturity at 7 p.m. and Open Mic Night at 9:30. Thursdays bring jazz piano with Mike Brooke from 8 to 10 p.m. (no cover). Sara Leketa & Friends play original acoustic rock at 10 p.m. on Fridays. June 24 is reggae night complete with Jamaican food and drinks. Tunes at the RooBar The RooBar Restaurant, 586 Main St. in Hyannis, has entertainment nightly, Thursdays through Sundays. Heritage Hotel has weekend shows Chauncy's Restaurant and Lounge at Heritage Hotel on Main Street features live entertainment every weekend with complimentary hors d'oeuvres from 5 to 7 p.m. Call 508- 833-0087. Entertainment's on tap at British Beer Company The British Beer Company, 412 Main St. in Hyannis, has live enter- tainment. All shows begin at 9 p.m. Seven is on stage June 23. Lazarus plays June 24 and on June 25 and 29 Syndicate is up. Stomp 86 rocks on June 27. The Complaints perform June 30. Fresh Ketch Live entertainment or karaoke is available at Fresh Ketch, 462 Main St. in Hyannis, Wednesday through Sunday from 9 on. Irish Village entertainment Live music is on stage at the Cape Cod Irish Village Restaurant, Route 28 in West Yarmouth, nightly. Fintan Stanley plays June 23, 24 and 29 and on June 27 and 28 the McTeggarts play. Grille 16 Every Friday night at 8:30 p.m. Mark Hennessy & the Slackers are up at Grille 16 on Main Street in Hyannis. Jack Leyden and Accent perform on Saturday nights. There are wine tastings every Friday night from 5 to 6:30. Live music starts at 8:30 p.m. Magic performs on steel drums June 23 and on June 24 and July 1 Accent is up. Square Pegs plays on June 30.
