The Pink Panther
Iamnot tryingto be mean,
but this was the single most
painful viewing experience I
have had since I experienced
a close-up of a cement pillar
seconds before smashing
face first into it. It is com-
pletely devoid of laughs ,
other than
t h o s e
from its
^
leading
actor and
his team of
business advi
sors.
What has hap
pened to Steve v" pJ
Martin? He's just
not funny anymore.
As a matter of fact he
is quickly sliding into the
smugly annoying, want-to-
repeatedly punch-in-the-
face Robin WilliamsLeague.
Sure, that still leaves him
higherthan the so-hideously-
unfunny-I-want-to-eat-m y-
own-eyeballs Whoopi Gold-
berg/Billy Crystal League.
However, he is sliding down
that slippery slope just the
same.
The original Pink Panther
series directed by Blake
Edwards and starring the
talented Peter Sellers was
uneven but still hilarious.
Sellers was a genius. I used
to think that Steve Martin
was one too but. after watch-
ing his string of completely
unfunny films starting with
Father O
f The Bride 2 right
up to Cheaper By The Dozen
2, 1think he just plain hates
his fans and has contempt so
deep that he wants to punish
them severely.
