Fathers Day Car Show revs memories
FOOTTRAFFIC JAM-Heavyfoot traffic isjust what organizers
of this year's Fathers Day Car Show wanted to see.
DAVID STILL II PHOTOS
MINI ME MUSTANG - This
1968 Shelby Mustang GT
500 convertible carries a
1:24 scale replica of itself,
reproduced in perfect detail
down to the surfboard.
GETTING FAMILIAR - Joe
Dugas 's 1931 Model A
Ford Roadster Pick-up has
become a familiar sight in
town parades and the car
show.
A SKY BLUE DREAM - Glenn Todd's 1972 Volvo P1800E is near flawless and
a treat for fans of the sports coupe (including the photographer).
ENGRAINED - Sometimes it's
not about the chrome, but the
urethane. Maurice McEvoy's
1927 Ford Model A truck was
used as the depot wagon for
a number of years, shuttling
passengers from the train
station to area resorts.
With
more than 350
vehicles on display,
there was some-
thing for everyone at the
Hyannis Area Chamber of
Commerce's 12th
Annual Fa-
thers Day Car Show on Main
Street.
It was a paved trip down
Memory Lane fueled by
recollections of cars once
owned, once wrecked or still
coveted.
While there were many re-
turnees in this year's line-up.
there were also new entries
to spark more memories and
conversations.
Also cooperating for the
first complete weekend this
year was the weather, pro-
viding a gentle haze that ,
though warm, was not op-
pressive.
By the time the last linger-
ing looks were cast upon
departing vehicles in the
early afternoon , an estimated
25.000 people had strolled
the street.
Rebecca Brown exhibits her
photographs at the Island Mer-
chant, 10 Ocean St. in Hyannis,
through June 30.
