Paintings by Thomas B. Higham are on display through June 25. Artist Edith Vonnegut exhibits her new works June 20 through July 25. Harbor Your Arts This town sponsored program features 15 local artists exhibiting and demonstrating their techniques at Bismore Park, 180 Ocean St. in Hyannis through Sept. 30. Bloomin' paintings on display An open show of works concen- trating on floral fiestas is on display through July 16 at the Barnstable Unitarian Church. Cape Cod Conservatory Registration is open for the Cape Cod Conservatory Fine and Perform- ing Arts classes. Programs offered include studio art classes , an instru- ment sampler for young children, "Broadway for Girls," "Art in the After- noon," monotype, drawing and more. Students of all ages are welcome. Around the Cape Icons highlight art show Hand-created works of art by members of the Community of Jesus Art Guild, Rock Harbor in Orleans, are on display through June 18 from noon to 9 p.m. Watercolor exhibition in Dennis Dick McGarr, a watercolorist , exhibits his work through June 30 at the Dennis Public Library. Abstract works in Provincetown The Bowersock Gallery, 373 Com- mercial St. in Provincetown, presents an exhibit of abstract works by Rose Umerlik through July 13. Gallery artists open doors Eleven invited artists join the gallery artists at artSTRAND gallery, 494 Com- mercial St. in Provincetown, for an ex- hibit of works through June 28. A group show with Jay Critchley opens June 30 with a reception from 7 to 10 p.m. 2006 Cape & Islands Whale Trail Check out more than 50 hand- painted whale sculptures located across Cape Cod through Sept. 16. Six feet long, the make-believe mam- mals will be displayed individually or in pods. Eastham Painters' Guild Members exhibit June 24 and 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Old Schoolhouse Museum , across from the National Seashore Visitors' Center in Eastham. Another show is June 29 through 30 and July 1. Heritage Gardens and Museums The museums and gardens are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Sandwich, where the shell work of Evelyn Way Kendall is on exhibit along with "The Automobile Comes to Cape Cod" vignette. Check out the 1899 Winton and the 1908 Sears Surry, the 1904 Curved Dash Olds and others. There's also an exhibit of sea paintings by Charles Robertson Patterson. Creative Arts Center The Creative Arts Center, Crowell Road in Chatham, hosts art exhi- bitions, lectures, workshops and classes. For details on classes and shows check out www.capecodcre- ativearts.org Yarmouth Art Guild members exhibit The Yarmouth Art Guild exhibit at the Cape Cod Cooperative Bank, Route 6A in Yarmouthport, features works by Allan Remick and Mary Susan Chalke. May Good and Joan Jacobson are exhibiting at the Sovereign Bank, Route 28 in South Yarmouth. All works on display through June 28. BFW Gallery An opening reception for an ex- hibit of landscape florals by artists Adrienne Landry and Keith Howarth is held June 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the gallery, 28 North St. in Mashpee Commons. The works will be on display through July 21. New exhibits and more at CCMA As part of the 25 exhibits planned for its 25th year, the Cape Cod Museum of Art is showing works by Joseph E. Enneking (1881-1942), a well-known regional impression- ist landscape painter, represented in major museums. A retrospective of works by William Littlefield is on display through Aug. 27. Throughout the year works by Cape teachers Charles Hawthorne, Henry Henche, R. H. Ives Gammell and Hans Hoffman will be on dis- play. Works by their students, such as Hilda Neily, Sal Del Deo, Haynes Ownby, Harry Holl, Arnold Geiss- buhler, Varujan Boghosian and Robert Douglas Hunter, to name a few, will also be exhibited, all in honor of the 25th anniversary. Marine art of the Cape and the sea is displayed through June 18. Rick Fleury's work can be seen through June 25. The public is invited to solve the puzzle of "Meditation at Patmos," a painting by Xavier Gonzalez, as part of the museum's Community Cura- tors program. A members and artists reception is held June 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Secret Garden Tour is June 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. when artists will be in the gardens painting. Adult studio classes offered are still life oil painting, stained glass, bas-relief sculpture, digital photogra- phy, contemporary film, more. Children's art classes and activi- ties are held July 6 through Aug. 21. Programs offered include multi-me- dia, fairy tale, painting, drawing, ocean explorers, masks, collage, face painting, Chinese water brush, finger painting, weaving and more. Camera club at art association The Cape Cod Art Association camera club meets at 7 p.m. ev- ery other Thursday at the CCAA on Route 6A in Barnstable when there will be guest speakers, critiques, contests , workshops , photo sessions and more. Group for youths The Barnstable Youth Commission and its Youth Empowered Through Learning Leadership advisory group meet at 2 p.m. every first and third Thursday in room 2108 at Barnstable High School when ages 13 through 19 are invited to discuss issues affecting the young people of Barnstable. German-American Club Members of the German-Ameri- can Club generally meet the second Saturday of the month at the Fraternal Lodge in Centerville. New members are welcome.
