TD Banknorth' s annual Non-profit Reception drew
more than 125 people to Heritage Museum and Gardens in
Sandwich last Thursday for the presentation of community
grants totaling $30,000.
That "dividend' to the non-profits represents only "a
fraction of the annual giving" according to Marlene Weir,
director of community relations.
Employees of the bank donated/worked/volunteered for
a total of 10.000 hours of community service last year.

Hyannis Artscape Thursdays
Art galleries along Main Street stay
open until 8 p.m. the first Thursday of
every month. Those who visit the galleries
are eligible to have a meal at participating
restaurants for 20 percent off. Participat-
ing restaurants display flags.
Cape Cod Art Association
The Association, 3480 Route 6A in
Barnstable, is offering courses in water-
color painting, oil painting, life drawing,
digital photography and more. Student
members ages 14 to 22 are welcome for
a membership fee of $15 a year, which
includes discounts on classes, newsletter
subscription and ability to exhibit and sell
work. The New England Exhibition is June
22 through July 18. A reception is held

Children's art class offerings
Cape Cod Art Association's Children's
Art Classes include Art for Mommy & Me
(ages 2-3), offered Tuesdays; Books We
Love: Art for New Readers (ages 3-6),

ery (ages 3-4), offered Thursday mornings
and afternoons; and Saturday Art Discov-
ery (ages 5-7 and 8-10). Fees vary and

What's up at the Cahoon?
The Cahoon Museum of American Art,
4676 Route 28 in Cotuit, offers docent
tours every Friday at 11 a.m. Classes
include Sailor's Valentine, folk painting,
watercolor, bird carving, and more. Paint-
ings by Thomas B. Higham are on display
through June 25. Artist Edith Vonnegut
exhibits her new works June 20 through
July 25. A reception to meet the artist is
June 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. She gives gallery

Center
Oils and mixed media works by Val-

at the Guyer Barn Gallery & Arts Center,

retrospective in honor of the gallery's 20th
anniversary is held June 17 through 24
when there will be activities and exhibits
for all ages. A reception is June 17 from

Harbor Your Arts
This town sponsored program features
15 local artists exhibiting and demonstrat-
ing their techniques at Bismore Park, 180

Bloomin' paintings on
display
An open show of works concentrating
on floral fiestas is on display through July
16 at the Barnstable Unitarian Church.
Cape Cod Conservatory
Registration is open for the Cape Cod
Conservatory Fine and Performing Arts
classes. Programs offered include studio
art classes, an instrument sampler for
young children, "Broadway for Girls," "Art
in the Afternoon," monotype, drawing and

escapes" in an exhibition at BFW Gallery

2006 Cape & Islands Whale
Trail
Check out more than 50 hand-painted
whale sculptures located across Cape
Cod through Sept. 16. Six feet long, the
make-believe mammals will be displayed
individually or in pods.
Eastham Painters' Guild
Members exhibit June 24 and 25 from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Old Schoolhouse Mu-
seum , across from the National Seashore
Visitors' Center in Eastham.
Heritage Gardens and
Museums
The museums and gardens are open
daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Sand-
wich, where the shell work of Evelyn Way
Kendall is on exhibit along with "The
Automobile Comes to Cape Cod" vignette.
Check out the 1899 Winton and the 1908
Sears Surry, the 1904 Curved Dash Olds
and others. There's also an exhibit of sea
paintings by Charles Robertson Patterson.
Creative Arts Center
The Creative Arts Center, Crowell Road
in Chatham, hosts art exhibitions, lectures,

Yarmouth Art Guild members
exhibit
The Yarmouth Art Guild exhibit at the
Cape Cod Cooperative Bank, Route 6A
in Yarmouthport , features works by Allan
Remick and Mary Susan Chalke. May
Good and Joan Jacobson are exhibiting
at the Soveriegn Bank, Route 28 in South
Yarmouth. All works on display through
June 28.
New exhibits and more at
CCMA
As part of the 25 exhibits planned for its
25th year, the Cape Cod Museum of Art
is showing works by Joseph E. Ennek-
ing (1881-1942), a well-known regional
impressionist landscape painter, repre-
sented in major museums. A retrospective
of works by William Littlefield is on display
through Aug. 27.
Throughout the year works by Cape
teachers Charles Hawthorne, Henry
Henche, R. H. Ives Gammell and Hans
Hoffman will be on display. Works by their
students, such as Hilda Neily, Sal Del
Deo, Haynes Ownby, Harry Holl, Arnold
Geissbuhler, Varujan Boghosian and
Robert Douglas Hunter, to name a few,
will also be exhibited, all in honor of the
25th anniversary. Marine art of the Cape
and the sea is displayed through June 18.
Rick Fleury's work is on display through
June 25. The public is invited to solve
the puzzle of "Meditation at Patmos," a
painting by Xavier Gonzalez, as part of the
museum 's Community Curators program.
