"There 's considerable .de-
velopment planned on Main
Street,"Raber said, including
plans to remodel the Sturgis
Charter Public School,aproj-

is involved.
East end development is
also progressing on a new
bank in the former candle

cent to the transportation
terminal, property currently
owned by WayneKurker of the
Hyannis Marina, a new use

The former National Cata-

Colonial Candle 's outlet
store) across from the Post
Office building underwent
recent major development
with front-to-back improve-

Stanley brokerage office at
the rear section in the North
Street parking lot and the
retailer Colorful Creations
on Main Street.
Other projects are sprout-
ing up, and/or planned , be-
tween and around the Main
Street area setting, which
itself was improved in the
last two years with new
sidewalks , benches , plant -
ings, street improvements ,
traffic lights and some new
and developing facades on
various properties.
Steps taken by the town
to simplify permitting and
expand incentives such as
allowing mixed use 3-level
buildings has apparently
lighted a fuse. Hyannis con-
tinues to soiidify its calling as
the business and ret ail hub of
the Cape while maintaining
the type of town center the
movers and shakers hope are
equally attractive to tourists*
and locals. E
