They did anicejob on the press box and are now having the field surveyed and having a septic plan done so that new bathroom facilities can be constructed. This management agree- ment had to go before the General Court and it was approved on April 1, 2004. The GeneralCourt held,"The Barnstable town manager may delegate, subject to his review, determinations of scheduling of the use of the park to the Cotuit Athletic Association, Inc., in order to accommodate the use of the park by the Cotuit Athletic Association and the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League , Inc., as well as the general public." Unfortunately, the park was vandalized and as a result the gates were locked by the Athletic Association. Local resident Mark Buck- ley and his wife Sheila are circulating a petition for a revolving children's gate in celebration of the 100th anni- versary of gift of Lowell Park fromAlice LowellRopes. The petition asksthat the gate be named the AliceLowellRopes Children's Gate. The Cotuit LibraryAssocia- tion is also requesting that the Town allow the library parking lot and driveway to expan d into the park. The Li- brary Association maintains that the existing driveway is only 16 feet wide and it is difficult for cars to pass. Their plan calls for a set of stairs to the park and new barrier plants. It appears that their plan to extend the lot toward theplaygroundhas been abandoned. Do we want to turn park land into pave- ment? Thetowndock parking lot is across the street. What do you think?
