Sunday masses, 7, 8, 10 and 11 a.m. Confessions Saturday, 4 to 5:30 p.m., and 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. CHILDREN BAPTISED During morning services in Com- munity Church Sunday, the two small daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kalas were baptised by the Rev. parker Ward . Acting as god- parents for Charlene and Kassan- dra Kalas were Mr. and Mrs. Rob- ert Knhelin and Mr. and Mrs. David Pish, all of this village. CHURCH COMMITTEES CHOSEN During annual meeting of Oster- vllle Community Church (Metho- dist), committees were chosen to assist church officers for 1961-62. Ralph D. Knell was named head of membership and evangelism commission and will be assisted by Mrs. Knell, Mrs. Jessie Stringer and Mrs. Edward Milne. Mrs. Perkins Evans will be chair- man of commission on education with Mmes. Leonard Cloud, Mabel Huckabee, Richard Macalllster, William Mclntyre, Alfred Neves, Paul Williams and Dr. Paul John- son. With Mrs. Alfred Whiteley as cnairman of commission on mis- sions will be Mrs. Edward Dutra and Miss Margerie Leonard with Arthur Weber'serving as treasurer of missions. Pred McLane, Sr„ will head com- mission on stewardship and finance with these members assisting: Dr. David M. Curtis, Cyril Hall, Joseph Lopata, Richard Macalllster, Mrs. Hay Reid and Carl Riedell. The commission on worship will have Mrs. Audrey Hinckley as chairman assisted by Mrs. C. J. Burnett, Mrs. David Curtis , Perkins Evans , Mrs. Dorothy Metzger, Mis. David Rock- wood and Miss Eva Smith. Com- mittee on records and history will be Mrs. Karl Aittanleml , Mrs. Arn- old'O'Kuro and Mrs. Hay B. Reid. Miss Margerie Leonard , chair- man and Warren Hansen, vice- chairman, will serve on committee on pastoral relations with assistance of Dr. Curtis, Mrs. Audrey Hinck- ley, Hay B. Reid, Miss Eva Smith and Mrs. Alfred Whiteley. Chair- man of committee of stewards to serve Communion is Holland Ben- nett with Cecil I. Ooodspeed, Mr. Knell, Hay B. Reid and Carl Rie- dell assisting. Mrs. Carl Wolsleffer and Mr . Reid, members of this year's nom- inating committee, will serve next year in that capacity under chair- manship of Rev. Parker B. Ward. Other members of that committee nominated him from the floor and elected for a two-year term were Mrs. Rockwood, Mr. Knell and Mrs. John Farrington. Mr . Macalllster was elected for one year to replace Cecil I. Ooodspeed , a member of this year 's nominating committee. MISS SWIFT GRAND CHAMPION Miss Donna Swift, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larkin Swift, was awarded the Grand Champion trophy for 1960 at the Rough Rider 's Show , on Sunday. This trophy, donated by j, j . Liddy, was given to the horseman who had accumulated the highest points in shows held in the past year of i960, and was a beautiful two-foot high "gold" trophy topped with a horse. Miss Swift was also Judged , "champion of the day, " at Sunday's show, with Scott Elliott of Oster- vllle winning the second and third awards. ABBIE T. BOWES Mrs. Abble T. (Richardson) Bowes, 74, a resident of Ostervllle for the past 11 years and a Cape resident for 52 years, died Friday, May 19, in Cape Cod Hospital. She was born in Oakland , Cal., and was the widow of James M. Bowes who died In 1933. Survivors include three sons, James H. Bowes of Everett, John J. Bowes and Louis F. Bowes of this village; also 11 grandchildren and one great- grandchild! A funeral High Mass was held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, of which she was a mem- ber, on Monday, and burial was In St. Patrick's Cemetery, Hyannis. She was also member of the Women's Guild of her church. CLARENCE W. WANNOP Clarence W. Wannop, 74, of palm Bench, Fla., and Crcsco, Pn., died Monday, May 22, in Crcsco. He had been In failing health for three years and seriously ill for the last month. Born in Haverford , Pa., son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilson W. Wnnnop, he wns mnnager of the Breakers Hotel In Palm Beach until 1958 when poor health forced his re- tirement. During the years 1935- 1943 he was manngcr of the Oyster Harbors Club in Ostervllle for the summer seasons nnd manager of the Cloister Club in Sea Island, Oa. during the winter of those years. Survivors Include his widow, Mrs. Florence (Lasher) Wannop; twin sons, John W. Wnnnop of Wlanno Avenue, In Wlanno, and H. Ward Wnnnop of Lake Placid, N. Y.; a brother , Alfred Wannop of Con- shohoken, Pa., and three grand- children. Private funeral services were held Wednesday at the Lanterman Funeral Home in East Stroudsburg, Pa., and cremation at the Maple Hill Cemetery. W.S.C.S. ELECTION The Woman's Society of Christian Service, Ostervllle Community Church will begin Its fourth year of organization with Mrs. Mabel Huck- abee and Mrs. Parker Ward re- elected to serve for second term as president and vice-president, re- spectively. Re-elected for her third term as treasurer was Mrs. Jessie Stringer and Mrs. Osborne Mnrney ! was elected as secretary . Taking the oath of office, con- ducted by the Rev. Parker B. Ward , the following were installed along with the above nnmed officers: Mrs. H. Alfred Whiteley, chairman of local church activities ; Mrs. Mal- colm Crosby, secretary of spiritual life ; Mrs. Cecil Ooodspeed , pro- motional secretary; Mrs. Howard West, mission supply secretary; Mrs. R. Perkins Evans, student secretary. Assisted by Mrs. Ooodspeed , Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Ralph D. Knell, Mrs. Stringer conducted the pledge service, while Mrs. Richard C. Macalllster provided organ music for the evening program. Mrs. Whiteley and her committee served refreshments. PERSONALS Mr . and Mrs. Joseph Magnuson nnd children of Wlanno Avenue were guests over the Mother 's Day weekend oi her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Abbott in Wil- ton, N. H. Little Gall Magnuson Is remaining there for a week's visit with hor grandparents. Ernest DeWltl, accompanied by his son-in-law and daughter , Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Dulnney, all oi Chicago, hnve arrived at Mr. De- Wltt's summer home on East Bay Road for the season. It will be of Interest to the resi- dents of Bay View Circle to know that papers have been passed con- veying a lot of land to William Drlscoll, a prominent Cambridge business man. William E. Beggs, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Beggs of Bay View Circle, Is reported to be gain- ing after several weeks' illness in his home. Mrs. Allan Fraser, third grade teacher In Ostervllle Elemen- tary School, recently brought a sun- shine box to Billy with many gifts from his classmates. Miss Agnes Rlx of Dedhnm has been visiting the Roy L. Chase family on Bates Street. Mrs. Miles Pawloskl and daughter Mary of Pnwtucket , R. I., have been guests of the former 's son and fnmlly, Mr. and Mrs. Miles J. Pawloskl (Kathleen Hansberry) on Parker Road , coming hero for little Johnny 's first birthday. Joan , Infant daughter or Mr. and Mrs. Martin Jensen (Patricia Hans- berry) of Long Island, N , Y., was christened May 7. She was born March 17 and Is the granddaughter of Mr. nnd Mrs. James Hansberry of this village. The Martins also have a son, Jimmy, 17 months old. Mr . and Mrs. Franklin Floete of Washington, D. C, have moved into the Richard Chapman house ov> Wlanno Avenue which they recent- ly purchased. Thomas Kelly has arrived at his home on Wlanno Avvenuc for the , .summer, after spending the winter at University Club In Boston. Mr . and Mrs. Holland Bennett and son Edwin have returned after a 3- day trip to the White Mts., In New Hampshire. Robert Shields of Scuddcr Rond has been nwnrded the first prljse of n 5-day trip to Miami , Fla., for top .sales of Volkswagon trucks in the New Bngland district.
