A merry mermaid-maker
Art and book auction
The Friends of the Mashpee Library
are throwing a party, Mermaid Tales,
May 19 at 6:30 p.m. when original
art and signed books will be up for

Scholarships for summer
camp
The Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod
will be distributing $100 scholarships
for the summer day camp to any child
with a parent in the Air Force, Marines

Get ready for Maritime
Days
The 13th annual Cape Cod Maritime
Days festival is set for May 13 through
21 when lighthouse and walking tours,
boat shop tours, kayak tours, festi-
vals, maritime art exhibits, reenact-
ments, cruises and more are on the
agenda. Other highlights include an
exhibit of maritime art at the Cape
Cod Museum of Art in Dennis, a
maritime history display at the library
in Truro, a day long maritime his-
tory symposium at the Cape Codder
Resort and Spa in Hyannis, a lecture
and demonstration on strandings at
the Cape Cod Museum of Natural
History in Brewster and much more.

What's up at the CCMA
Classes offered to children this
winter at the Cape Cod Museum of
Art, Route 6A in Dennis are drawing

& Girls Club
The Boys & Girls Club in Mashpee
is open Monday through Friday from
2 to 7 p.m. Teen nights are held each
Wednesday night from 7 to 9 p.m.
and every Friday night from 7 to 10
p.m. Additionally, the club is open
every Saturday as well during vacation
weeks. Offerings include photography,
homework tutoring and help, horse-
back riding, lacrosse, a goal-setting
program , karate, basketball, dance,
computer, career prep, healthy living
and much more. A satellite Boys &
Girls Club for grades 7 through 12 is
open at Mashpee High School where
there is computer support, games, tu-
toring SAT and MCAS prep and much

Ages 8 to 17 are invited to learn about
aviation and experience an actual flight
with the EAA Young Eagles Program

Foster and adoptive
families needed
Social workers and local foster par-
ents are present the fourth Thursday of
every month from noon to 1 p.m. and
6 to 7 p.m. at the state Department of

enting and adoption. Those interested

Coffee and an open mic
The YMCA of Cape Cod's coffee-
house for teens at Camp Lyndon in
Sandwich will be held the second and
fourth Saturday of each month from 7
to 9 p.m. Featured activities include
an open mike, musicians, dancing, an
art gallery, poetry readings and more.
Teens are welcome to perform or just
