Marstons Mills story hours and more The Marstons Mills Public Library invites children of all ages to weekly story hours on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. Also on Tuesdays, at 4:15 p.m there is a story hour for children in pre- school through grade 2, crafts includ- ed. Grades 4 through 7 are invited to play board games from 4 to 6 p.m. Storytimes and more at Eastham Public Library The Eastham Public Library has weekly storytime every Friday at 10:30 a.m. for children up to age 5. A craft session follows. M CANVAS. Barnstable Cape Cod Art Association The Spring Color Explosion Ex- hibit is on display through May 15, seven days a week. Admission is free. The Association, 3480 Route 6A in Barnstable, is offering courses in watercolor painting, oil painting, life drawing, digital photography and more. The Association is accepting student members ages 14 to 22 with a membership fee of $15 a year, which includes discounts on classes, news- letter subscription and ability to exhibit and sell work. A display of fiber art that focuses on faces and figures is on exhibit through May 14. Paintings by Thomas B. Higham are on display May 9 through June 25. A place for trees Artists from Cape Cod and other points in New England show their "Treescapes" in an exhibition opening at BFW Gallery in Mashpee Commons May 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. The show is up through June 19. Asian art exhibit Throughout the month of May the Dennis Public Library, 5 Hall Street in Dennisport,will host an exhibit of Asian art created by Roberta Silbret and others who are exploring Sumi- e art at the Sandwich Community School. A reception is May 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Art works on display at retirement community Artists from the Lower Cape Guild of Chatham Painters exhibit their works during May at Mayflower Place Retire- ment Community. 2006 Cape & Islands Whale Trail Check out more than 50 hand-paint- ed whale sculptures located across Cape Cod May 27 through Sept. 16. Six feet long, the make-believe mam- mals will be displayed individually or in pods. Cape Cod Munchies Jan Breidenbach and Willie Hayduck of the Yarmouthport Art Guild exhibit their watercolors on Cape Cod Munch- ies' Art Wall through May 15. Daniel Springer 's landscapes The artist exhibits at the Brewster Ladies' Library, Route 6A, during the month of May. Ship "Henry B. Hyde" Rounding Cape Horn, Westward Passage, by Charles Robert Patterson. Heritage Gardens and Museums The museums and gardens are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Sand- wich, where the shell work of Evelyn Way Kendall is on exhibit along with "The Automobile Comes to Cape Cod" vignette. Check out the 1899 Winton and the 1908 Sears Surry, the 1904 Curved Dash Olds and others. There 's also an exhibit of sea paintings by Charles Robertson Patterson. Open studios and more in Mashpee Thursday and Friday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon, through spring, the Art For Giving gallery, 27 Fountain St. in Mashpee Commons,will hold open studio time after which there will be a gentle critique. Use your own materials or the studio equipment. Admission is $12 to $18 and pre-registration is required by calling 508-477-2121. Ten percent of the proceeds go to charity. Art for Young People, ages 12 to 18, is held Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The fee is $12, and pre-registration is required. For details on classes and shows check out www. capecodcreativearts.org New exhibits and more at CCMA As part of the 25 exhibits planned for its 25th year, the Cape Cod Museum of Art is showing works by Joseph E. Enneking (1881-1942), a well-known regional impressionist landscape painter, represented in ma- jor museums. Also on display is work by John Joseph Enneking. The exhibit runs through May 21. Throughout the year works by Cape teachers Charles Hawthorne, Henry Henche, R. H. Ives Gammell and Hans Hoffman will be on display. Works by their students, such as Hilda Neily. Sal Del Deo, Haynes Ownby. Harry Holl, Arnold Geissbuhier. Varu|an Boghosian and Robert Douglas Hunter, to name a few, will also be exhibited, all in honor of the 25th anniversary.
