Silvia hangars in approval
process
Delays in approval of their hangars at
Barnstable Municipal Airport have put
Silvia I and Silvia II of Osterville about
$300,000 over budget, the attorney for the
companies told a Cape Cod Commission
subcommittee last week.
That was the bad news. The
good news is that the staff and the
subcommittee are recommending
a hardship exemption, with conditions, be
granted by the full Commission at its May
18meeting.That meansthe project willnot
have to go through fullreview as a Develop-
ment of RegionalImpact.
Silvia I and II are separate corporations
owned individually by brothers Ron and
Floyd Silvia, partners in Silvia & Silvia.
Separate building permit applications
and reviews were conducted for the high-
end hangers, both of which fall under the
Cape Cod Commission's 10,000-square-foot
threshold for mandatory review. After con-
struction was well under way, the commis-
sion asserted its authority and brought the
project in for review.
Attorney Michael Princi said the Silvia I
hangariscomplete, andthe SilviaIIbuilding
is two or three weeks from completion.
