BIRTHDAY OBSERVED
On' Friday evening, May 6th, a
numtier of Hyannis people attended
the evening service held at the
South Dennis Pull Gospel Assem-
bly, alter which a surprise party
was given to the minister's wife,
Mrs. Briggs Dingham, Uie occasion
being her birthday. A sum ot money
was presented Mrs. Dingham by
members and friends of the church.
Refreshments of sandwiches, cakes
and punch were served. Two birth-
day cakes were served also.

Barnstable Post and the Auxiliary

evening in the Post Home. New
members announced were Mrs.
Bruce Phinney and Donna Lee
Crocker, a Junior member. The an-
nual Poppy Days, May 27th and
May 2Sth , will be in charge of Mrs.

Donne. Plans were made for a food
sale May 20th and Mrs. Betty
Crocker was named to plan a rum-
mage sale.

PUBLIC BUS TRIP TO
WORCESTER
The finance committee of the
Town of Barnstable Branch, Cape
Cod Hospital Aid Association, has
planned a round-trip bus ride to
Worcester Tuesday for the purpose
of seeing the Hooked Rug Show
of Pearl McOowan, designer.
Reservations must be made not
later than Saturday with Mrs.
Lawrence Grimes, tel. Hyannis
1S19-J. The bus will leave the Hy-
annis Depot at 7 a.m. Plans were
completed at a meeting of the
executive board held in the nurses
dome.
Mrs. Hyman N. Hirsch of this
same committee, has been named
to arrange a food sale. Plans were
:nade to collect fairly new bushel
aaskets which will be painted
'CAPE COD HOSPITAL" and used
!or collection of canned goods for
;he Fall drive. Mrs. Ira D. H. Mur-
ray is chairman of the project and
chairmen will take care of their
districts. Plans were also discussed
for an auction in June.
YOUNG ADULTS
The social of the Fellowship
group of the Baptist Church was
postponed from Tuesday to next
Tuesday and will be held in the
Parish Hall at 8 p.m. The program
and refreshments are In charge of
Miss Patricia Rood , chairman, and
Miss Evelyn Lahteine.
BROTHERHOOD ELECTS
The men's group of> the BaptiBt
Church closed its season Monday
evening with the annual meeting
and Ladies Night. A supper pre-
ceded the business meeting during
which Byron Hall was elected
president, succeeding Paul Trimble.

president and Fred Burrows, secre-
tary-treasurer.

GREEK CHURCH TO ORGANIZE
The Rev. Parthenios Komninos
'of Fall River, representing Arch-
bishop Athenagoras KavadaB of the
New England Diocese, presented a
church constitution and by-laws to
Greek residents of the Cape at a
meeting Tuesday evening in the
hall ot the Greek Orthodox Church
for their consideration. These were
accepted and signed which will en-
title the church to receive a char-
ter and organize formally. James

NEW SYNACOGUE
A special meeting Monday eve- j
ning in the Cape Cod Synagogue
was attended by 60 and plans were
made to hold the first formal serv-
ice with special features at 7:30
p.m. tomorrow, directed by David
Hasckel, cantor. The building was
approved and accepted and reports
given by the building and commit-
tee and treasurer. The dedication
was planned for July. All religious
services and meetings of church
groups are being held there.

The executive board of the Hyan-
nis State Teachers College Alumni
Association, headed by Miss Ther-
esa Harcourt, president, and Miss
Irma Salvucci, vice-president , both
of Quincy, has arranged the annual
dinner meeting for May 21, when
a dinner will be held at seven
o'clock at Cape Cod Inn. Mrs. Al-
fred Ray Atwood , secretary, will
receive reservations not later than
Tuesday. Members of the local
Council will be hostesses at open
house and tea from 2 to 5 p.m in
the home ot Miss Annie S. Crowell
in honor of the class of 1899, the
first to be graduated. Guests ex-
pected are Francis Bagnall of Bos-
ton, the only living president of the
college, and Mrs. Bagnall, and mem-
bers of the 1924 class, who will be
celebrating their 25th anniversary.
Tentative plans have been made
for a reunion breakfast of the class
of 1936.

a dance May 20th at the Commun-
ity Center Building.
FALTAL ACCIDENT
Our sympathy 1B extended to Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Robblns, whose
little 7-year-old son Mickey was
laid to rest in the Centerville Cem-
etery, Monday afternoon. Early last
Friday evening little Mickey on
his bicycle collided with an auto-
mobile and was seriously internally
Injured. He wus rushed to the Cape
Cod Hospital, where an emergency
operation was performed , but he
did not survive the night. We shall
miss little Mickey with his un-
usual smile which started slowly,'
then illuminated every bit of his
face. May God comfort his parents.
BIRTHDAY
Little Carolyn Atwood celebrated
her sixth birthday with a party at
the home of her parents , Mr, and
Mrs . Fiances Atwood , of Church
Street.
Those present were Gail and
Linda Atwood, Neil Huhtanen, Da-

dith Walo, Miriam Cahoon , Karen
and Susan Johnson and Judith

Neil won lirst prize. The dining
room was very prettily decorated,
the color scheme being pink and
blue , ujid many balloons were in
evidence. The birthday cake was
made by Mi's. Jean Sears and pret-
tify decorated In pink and while.
