" [Funeral from her late residence, this afternoon at 3 o'clock.] In recording the death of this excellent woman , we know we but speak the feelings of a wide circle of rela- tives and friends in saying, that our neighborhood suf- fers a deep loss. We would not let her departure to a better land pass in silence, as if we were insensible to her excellencies of character. She united in uncommon degree gentleness and be- nignity with firmness, and energy. She was self-sacri- ficing and devoted to the happ iness and comfort of others. Her words were always words of encourage- ment ; her feelings always charitable and^generous.— She was anxious to do her duty in every place ; and was more guided by conscience than inclination. She ljvcd in the. Christian hope and died in the Christian faith. Her sincere humility and the early prejudices of her education alone prevented an open profession of her belief. Her memory is dear to her nei ghbors ; her example precious to her children. The mother of a large family of sons and daughters, well brought up,the world is her debtor for her pure and faithful and indus- trious life. The realms of the spiritual world now claim her society. She now leaves her husband and children to join her child , but latel y gone before her. She goes, to his welcome whose arms are ever open to the meek , the merciful , the pure. May the comforting spirit of the gospel strengthen and cheer the afflicted household that mourns her absence.
