Around the Cape Cape Cod Munchies Jan Breidenbach and Willie Hayduck of the Yarmouthport Art Guild exhibit their watercolors on Cape Cod Munch- ies' Art Wall through May 15. Munchies is located in Station Avenue Plaza, 23 South White's Path. Guild members exhibit art work Yarmouth Art Guild members Donald Gauland, Jeffrey Gardner and Diane Oser exhibit their work at the Cape Cod Cooperative Bank, Route 6A in Yarmouthport. Across town Jerri Roche exhibits at the Sovereign Bank on Route 28 in South Yarmouth. All works will be on display through May 17. Students and staff exhibit Works in the visual arts by the students and staff members at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Harwich exhibit their work through May 4 Daniel Springer landscapes The artist exhibits at the Brewster Ladies' Library, Route 6A, during the month of May. A reception is May 6 from 3 to 5 p.m. Heritage Gardens and Museum The museum and gardens are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Sand- wich where the shell work of Evelyn Way Kendall is on exhibit along with "The Automobile Comes to Cape Cod" vignette. Check out the 1899 Winton and the 1908 Sears Surry, the 1904 Curved Dash Olds and others. New visions in Truro A new community art organization, The Truro Group, features an exhibit of works by 25 local artists through April at the Truro Public Library off Route 6. Open studios and more in Mashpee Thursday and Friday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon, through spring, the Art For Giving gallery, 27 Fountain St. in Mashpee Commons, will hold open studio time after which there will be a gentle critique. Use your own materials or the studio equip- ment. Admission is $12 to $18 and pre-registration is required by calling 508-477-2121. Ten percent of the proceeds go to charity. Art for Young People, ages 12 to 18, is held Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The fee is $12, and pre-registra- tion is required. Creative Arts Center The Creative Arts Center, Crowell Road in Chatham, hosts art exhi- bitions, lectures, workshops and classes. Cape Cod Carvers demon- strate, lecture, give appraisals on duck decoys May 6 to 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Plein Air Painters exhibit May 5 to 25. A reception is May 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. High School Whale Trail Design Competition winner Jessica Magyar receives her award at a reception May 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. All entries on display May 10 through 25. For details on classes and shows check out www.capecodcreativearts.org New exhibits and more at CCMA As part of the 25 exhibits planned for its 25th year, the Cape Cod Museum of Art is showing works by Joseph E. Enneking (1881-1942), a well-known regional impressionist landscape painter, represented in major museums. Also on display is work by John Joseph Ennek- ing. The exhibit runs through May 21. Curator Lois Grebe leads a six-week workshop on enameling starting May 4. Cynthia Packard exhibits 10 new large works, 12 ft. by 12 ft., through May 7. Fielding Brown exhibits mathemati- cal-related wooden and multi-media art through May 7. Take a trip to Winterthur, Country Estate and Longwood Gar- dens in Maryland and Delaware June 8 through 10. Register by May 15. Declan Halpin exhibits sculptural paintings through April 30. The Silver Anniversary of the museum is celebrated April 29 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m when there will be a wine tasting and a selec- tion of foods from 13 area restaurants available for sampling. Admission is $50. Michael Rogovsky exhibits landscapes through May 7 and throughout the year works by Cape teachers Charles Hawthorne, Henry Henche, R. H. Ives Gammell and Hans Hoffman will be on display. Works by their students, such as Hilda Neily, Sal Del Deo, Haynes Ownby, Harry Holl, Arnold Geissbuhler, Varujan Boghosian and Robert Douglas Hunter, to name a few, will also be exhibited, all in honor of the 25th annivarsary. Children's spring art classes include texture, music, art, folk tales, puppets, masks, personal portraits and more, beginning April 28. Adult studio classes offered are still life oil painting, stained glass, bas-relief sculpture, digital pho- tography, contemporary film, more. Call for details. A trip to Rhode Island to visit the Museum of American Illustration and The Breakers mansion, with lunch at The Clarke Cooke House, is scheduled for May 11 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. $120 for members, $135 for non-members. Registration deadline is April 28. The museum is closed Mondays through May 22. Maritime Academy, will speak at the 29th Annual Scholarship Awards Dinner and Ceremony May 4 at the Coonamesset Inn in Falmouth. The event is hosted by the Cape Cod Chapter of the Military Officers As- sociation of America. Eight Cape Cod high school students will be awarded $1,000 scholarships. Garden club for kids The Master Gardeners Associa- tion of the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension and the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod are joining forces to create a garden club for kids. Camera club at art association The Cape Cod Art Association camera club meets at 7 p.m. ev- ery other Thursday at the CCAA on Route 6A in Barnstable when there will be guest speakers, critiques , contests, workshops, photo sessions and more. Group for youths The Barnstable Youth Commission and its Youth Empowered Through Learning Leadership advisory group meet at 2 p.m. every first and third Thursday in room 2108 at Barnstable High School when ages 13 through 19 are invited to discuss issues affecting the young people of Barnstable.
