Center
The Cape Cod Writers ' Center is
celebrating National Poetry Month.
Poets in the series include Lamont

The Friends of the Osterville Village
Library hosts weekly book sales in
the library's basement. Book sales are

Tuesday toddler story time is at 10

new book club is forming focusing on
personal growth and spirituality. The

The Marstons Mills Public Library

ed. Grades 4 through 7 are invited to
play board games from 4 to 6 p.m.

Eastham Public Library
The Eastham Public Library has
weekly storytime every Friday at 10:30
a.m. for children up to age 5. A craft
session follows. The library also hosts
a monthly "Magic The Gathering"
trading card game program for ages
11 and up the first Tuesday of each
month from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. All are
free, but you must sign up in advance.

Arts Foundation of Cape
Cod
Submissions are being accepted
for the third annual Comcast Cape-
wide Student T-Shirt Art Contest. The
winning design will be featured on the
21st Annual TD Banknorth Pops by
the Sea concert T-shirt. Scholarships
for first , second and third place will be
awarded. Submission deadline is May
10 with winners announced May 19.

Cape Cod Art Association
The Cape Cod Art Association , 3480
Route 6A in Barnstable, is offering
courses in watercolor painting, oil
painting, life drawing, digital photog-
raphy and more. The Association is
accepting student members ages 14
to 22 with a membership fee of $15
a year, which includes discounts on
classes , newsletter subscription and
ability to exhibit and sell work. An
open juried exhibition is up through
May 15. A reception and awards party
to meet the artists is held April 23

Children's Art Classes include Art
for Mommy & Me (ages 2-3), offered

afternoons; and Saturday Art Discov-

What's up at the Cahoon?
The Cahoon Museum of American Art,
4676 Route 28 in Cotuit, offers docent
tours every Friday at 11 a.m. Classes
include Sailor's Valentine, folk painting,
watercolor, bird carving, and more. A
display of fiber art that focuses on faces
and figures is on exhibit through May 14.
Deanie Pass discusses her rugs in refer-
ence to art history April 25 at 11 a.m.
On May 2 Maxme Farkas presents slides
of her work and discusses the art quilt

New visions in Truro
A new community art organization ,
The Truro Group, features an exhibit of
works by 25 local artists through April
at the Truro Public Library off Route 6.
Mayflower hosts art show
Mayflower Place Retirement Com-
munity exhibits works by Anna
Lowther and Kenneth Brynildsen of
Angelheart Gallery through April 27 on
Buck Island Road in West Yarmouth.

Mashpee
Thursday and Friday mornings
from 10 a.m. to noon, through spring,
the Art For Giving gallery, 27 Foun-
tain St. in Mashpee Commons , will
hold open studio time after which
there will be a gentle critique. Use
your own materials or the studio
equipment. Admission is $12 to $18
and pre-registration is required by call-

proceeds go to charity.

Iris wins scholarship
Danielle Ins from Barnstable High
School won this years $1,500 Hyannis
Rotary/Karol B. Wyckoff high school
scholarship award. Other winners from
Barnstable High School were Andrew
Wood. Nicole Lanviere and Carlos
Diaz-Sullivan.
New exhibits and more at
CCMA
As part of the 25 exhibits planned
for its 25th year, the Cape Cod Muse-
um of Art is showing works by Joseph
E. Enneking (1881-1942). a well-known
regional impressionist landscape
painter, represented in major muse-
ums. Also on display is work by John
Joseph Enneking. The exhibit runs
through May 21. Chal Hemmenway
discusses the experience of sculpture
April 27 at 7 p.m. Curator Lois Grebe
leads a six-week workshop on enamel-
ing starting May 4. Cynthia Packard
exhibits 10 new large works, 12 ft. by
12 ft., through May 7. Fielding Brown
exhibits mathematical-related wooden
and multi-media art through May 7.
Take a trip to Winterthur, Country Es-
tate and Longwood Gardens in Mary-
land and Delaware June 8 through 10.

Declan Halpin exhibits sculptural
paintings through April 30. The Silver
Anniversary of the museum is cel-
ebrated April 29 from 5:30 to 7:30
p.m when there will be a wine tasting
and a selection of foods from 13 area
restaurants available for sampling.
