Social workers and local foster par-
ents are present the fourth Thursday of
every month from noon to 1 p.m. and
6 to 7 p.m. at the state Department of

South Yarmouth, to discuss foster par-

Coffee and an open mic
The YMCA of Cape Cod's coffee-
house for teens at Camp Lyndon in
Sandwich will be held the second and
fourth Saturday of each month from 7
to 9 p.m. Featured activities include
an open mike, musicians, dancing, an
art gallery, poetry readings and more.
Teens are welcome to perform or just
hang out. Admission is $2.

Whither the fisheries?
Ecologist and marine conservation-
ist Carl Safina will speak April 30 at 4
p.m. at Cape Cod Community Col-
lege on "History and Destiny in World
Fisheries." He is president of The Blue
Ocean Institute and a winner of the
MacArthur Prize. Admission is free.
Piercy to talk
Novelist and poet Marge Piercy will
read from her work and sign books
May 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cotuit Cen-

Take a 'geocaching' walk
It's the very latest in outdoor ex-
ploration: geocaching, a treasure hunt
that uses Global Positioning System
units to hind and find "caches" of
treasures. Barnstable Land Trust offers
a geocache hike April 15 at 10 a.m.
Meet at the town landing on Old Post
Road in Cotuit, and bring mud shoes
and, if you have one, a GPS unit.
Sandwich expedition
Explore the oldest town on Cape
Cod, Sandwich, year-round on a 6.2-
mile walk as part of the Walk 'n Mass
