Violins on the block Auctioneer Bob Eldred wields the gavel April 9 at 6 p.m. when a selection of hand painted red violins will be auctioned off to benefit the Cape Symphony Orchestra. A dinner buffet is served along with wines. Admission is $50. The event takes place at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, Route 6A in Dennis. NOAH Center needs blankets The NOAH Center emergency shelter for adults needs blankets to give away. New and used ones may be dropped off at 77 Winter St. in Hyannis. Items wanted for marine rummage sale The Osterville Historical Society and Museum is seeking donations for the next marine rummage sale over Memorial Day weekend in 2006. If you have something such as water skis, anchors, oarlocks, fishing rods, paddles, etc., which you can part with stop by and make a donation or call 508-428-5861 to arrange for pick up. Kindermusik for children Preschool music classes for ages 18 months to 4 are ongoing at the South Congregational Church in Centerville for $9 a class. Kindergarten-age children are invited to attend Kinder- musik Young Child classes Tuesdays from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the church. Admission is $10. And if that doesn't fill you up, stop by for an all you can eat breakfast buffet Saturday mornings between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. New hours at Maritime Museum The Cape Cod Maritime Museum, 135 South Street in Hyannis, is open Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. A new exhibit, "For Those in Peril on the Sea," is on display as well as the ongoing construction of a replica of the 1886 Crosby Catboat, Sarah. Bake sale and luncheon St. Katherine's Philoptochos Society of Cape cod hosts their annual spring bake sale and luncheon April 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 1130 Falmouth Road in Centerville. Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Rummage sale in Osterville The United Methodist Church, Pond and Main Streets in Ostervilie, will hold a rummage sale April 7 and 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. when books, linens, clothing and more will be on sale. Poet Piercy to read Cape poet and writer Marge Piercy will read and discuss her works April 11 at the Cotuit Center for the Arts, 4404 Route 28 in Cotuit. Admission is $10. Poets wanted for contest The Veterans For Peace is sponsor- ing a poetry contest to celebrate Peace Week , April 16 through 22.
