Cape Cod Genealogical
Society
The Society is presenting work-
shops on advanced techniques this
spring. On April 8 court records will
be discussed and on May 6 writing
the family history will be the topic.
The sessions are held at the Dennis

meeting is April 12 when Bonnie Snow
discusses letters among Cape families

Traditional New England
contra dance
A traditional New England contra
dance will be held the fifth Saturday
(except New Year's Eve) of each
month from 8 to 11 p.m. Basic in-
struction will be offered at 7:45 p.m.
at the North Falmouth Congregational

Falmouth. Admission is $6 for adults

Cotuit Bird and Garden Club
Members of the Cotuit Bird and

4Cs Foreign Film Series
returns
Check out foreign films this winter
at 3:30 p.m. in Lecture Hall A at
Cape Cod Community College Tues-
days through May 9. Midaq Alley, the
award-winning Mexican film about
tangled lives in a Mexico City neigh-
borhood, can be seen April 11.
Woods Hole film fest
Films from the Woods Hole Film
Festival will be featured in a series of
dinners and screenings at Cap'n Kidd's
restaurant in Woods Hole. Dinner is
served from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. with the
film shown at 7:30 p.m. Admission is
$25 per person and includes dinner
and the movies, which play April 15
and 29 and May 6 and 20. For reserva-

Weekly films and food
The Island Merchant, 10 Ocean St.
in Hyannis, has screenings of popular
films every Tuesday evening. Food
and drink samples related to the film
are served on the side at 7 p.m. The
screenings are at 7:30 p.m. Admis-
sion for the package is $15 or you
can order off the menu.

The Highland Light Scottish So-
ciety holds a celebration of Tartan
Day April 8 at Carlton Hall on Old
Bass River Road in Dennis. Festivi-

Moonlighting in
Sandwich
Kick up your heels to some swing-
ing music April 9 when the Moon-
lighters big band performs some old
big band goodies at the Sandwich

Inca Son performs music from the
Andes region in costume April 16 at

Gloriae Del Cantores and Vox Caeli
Sinfonia present the great Requiem
of Mozart and his Litany of the Most
Blessed Sacrament in a concert at the
Church of the Transfiguration in Rock

and orchestra's new CD, Mozart: Rare

Folk and blues in Eastham
Folk-rock duo, The Kennedys,
performs April 8 at 8 p.m. at the
First Encounter Coffee House, 220
Samoset Road in Eastham. The
next concert is April 22 when blues
practitioners Ani Raines and Paul
Rishell perform. The coffee house
will be closed for the month of May,
then reopens on June 9 when Greg

Band competition
Fifteen Cape Cod bands compete
in the WPXC-FM PIXY 103 competi- '
tion at Sundancer's in Hyannis. The
next cut is April 7. The final cut is
April 14. Some local bands include

Five to the Face, Vapor Kiss, Earth-
bound Misfits and others. Free.
Conservatory needs new
members
The Cape Cod Conservatory String
Ensemble is looking for members for
